gen z here - SO refreshing
As a student photo journalist, I keep hearing all my professors talk about how we must just give in and adapt to AI and state of the industry. It is so refreshing to hear people I can look up to, and who have mentored me, share a perspective that centers the question “why?” instead of just saying “alright” and going along with things.

What impressed me most is how thoughtfully and eloquently they discuss commercial photography. Photography is fundamentally a visual language, yet Jay and Bill have an uncommon ability to translate its nuances, challenges, and artistry into words.

Authentic take on the business of photography and creativity
It’s great to hear two working creatives discuss, lament, and philosophize about the direction both commercial photography, and creativity in general, is going. I live in this world as well and found myself wanting to get into the conversation with them.

I feel so seen.
You GUYS, seriously, you echo sooo many thoughts I have about this industry, our world in general, and my place in it, and it’s *hella* reassuring. And you know what, it’s also reassuring to hear your thoughts on pricing and even reserving locations. I get a lot of mileage out of hearing (much) more established photographers have some of the same struggles that I used to beat myself up for. Just love this podcast. Will probably skip AI episodes because honestly AI just pisses me off, but otherwise, I’m a fan, and will spread the word. Thanks!

Talking photo shop, no, not that photoshop.
Remember Photo District News, the publication that kept commercial photographers abreast as to what’s going on in the industry? Yes? Well, this podcast is not PDN, but Jay and Bill talk about the photo business that is not the technical stuff. The other stuff, the money bits, the client bits, the trying to make a living as photographer in an ever changing world bits. First episode in and I’m hooked. Looking forward to what’s to come in future episodes.
