Dr. Eva Pila is an Assistant Professor at Western University in the School of Kinesiology who directs the research team at the Body Image & Health (BIH) Lab. Their research focuses on understanding body image and body (in)equity as it relates to movement, mental health and well-being. A main goal of this research is to develop psychological interventions, currently centered on self-compassion, to promote the health and well-being of individuals in marginalized bodies.

Dr Pila's research interests include:

  • Body image and mental health
  • Emotions and motivation related to physical activity
  • Self-compassion and compassion-focused interventions
  • Conditions that disproportionately impact women’s health (e.g., weight stigma, eating disorders, breast cancer)
