Welcome Back! I am your host Dawn Simmons, and in this episode of Conquering Our Unseen Enemies we are going to be addressing two areas of the church today that are increasing and are leading Christians astray. Both are being done gradually over time and will only increase the more we know less. I am referring to the Spirit of Apostasy and the Spirit of Apathy. Both are destructive to the church and yet they are the opposite in nature except for one key fact, both separate a Christian from the Lord and lead them to the eternal fire. Spirit of Apostasy and the Spirit of Apathy, both separate a Christian from the Lord and lead them to the eternal fire. Apostasy is the act of refusing to continue to follow, obey, or recognize a religious faith. Apostasy will lead you away from the word and a relationship with God. Truth must never be compromised. We need to know the truth of the Bible, have a relationship with the Lord, we need unity among the church body for the essentials in Christian beliefs, salvation in Christ, teaching contrary to God’s word, is false, ungodly teaching Jude 1:12, addressing false teachers and their eternal judgment Jude 1:4, those who reject him and who teach false doctrine is in rebellion to God and will be eternally separated from Him.Spirit of Apostasy: when people turn away from God’s truth and embrace false teaching. There will be a judgment on those who turn their back on God. Apostasy works with a spirit of rebellion, lying spirit, spirit of pride, lust for power, greed, jealousy. The example I gave a few episodes ago about the man calling the Christian woman who disagreed with him Satan is an example of heresy, blasphemy and apostasy in the message he was originally sharing. He was an example of someone who twists truth becomes hyper focused on one thing and use only their own understanding to interpret and come to their own conclusions and use hate and anger to spit at others who do or say anything contrary to what they have determined is the truth. Apostasy can function as a counterfeit to Christianity or be positioned to look like an elevated form of Christianty as those who preach counter to the word of God are creating their own religion with their own standards of what they want to be right and wrong. Jude 1:9 speaks to this behavior, slander and irrational to what they do not understand One purpose of Apostasy is to create divisions within the church. One of the major divisions in the church today is the LGBTQ community. Leviticus 18:22, The Bible is clear about what the Lord thinks of homosexuality. In Leviticus the Lord was giving us His standards for holy living. We live under the new Covenant with a salvation with Jesus, our salvation, our restoration is through Jesus, not the sacrifices. The standards did not change. Just because Jesus came, he did not negate God’s standards. With homosexuality, God says the act is detestable, He did not say hate the person. The act is what is detestable. The person still needs to know Jesus. We are not to condemn the person and act in hate towards them either way. We are to be obedient in a loving way to show them the Way, the Truth and the Life. Jude 1:17 referring to the judgment of those leading others astray. Jude 1:4 also speaks to the judgment of those teaching a life of immorality is covered by grace, I want to share Jude Support the showhttp://instagram.com/conqueringourunseenenemieshttps://www.facebook.com/conqueringourunseenenemies/https://twitter.com/DawnConqueringhttps://pin.it/3meY5IS

Welcome Back! I am your host Dawn Simmons, and in this episode of Conquering Our Unseen Enemies we are looking at names in the Bible. Specifically, we are looking at the Great I Am, versus Satan and what their names as revealed to us in the Bible mean to us on a daily basis. When we are in the midst of a battle or even just trying to understand what is going on around us, remembering these names and applying them in the situation will help you to discern what could be at the root of your situation and how to move through your situation with Him. If we want to conquer our unseen enemies, we need to understand what is at the core of our unseen enemy.Top Show points:· Looked at the Great I Am, versus Satan and what their names reveal to us in the Bible.· Through names we see how the name of a person can represent their relationship to us. A name reveals character. A name reveals purpose. A name reveals past, present and future. · Exodus 3: 1-5, Then God introduces himself. He tells Moses who He is, He does not hide it, He is specific and puts it in terms Moses will understand and identify with. · Genesis 3: 11, From this part of their discussion again God is telling Him who He is in relation to Moses by bringing in Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Moses knows who his descendants are, he knows he is an Israelite, so he can identify with this and God’s people. He tells Moses, I Am who I Am. · Genesis 15:1, God is revealing himself to Abram as to what Abram can expect from Him. This is the beginning of God creating His people. He has to introduce himself to Abram so He can begin to build Abram into the man He created Him to be, the father of the nation of Israel and ultimately the lineage from which Jesus will be born. · Isaiah 43:3, God saying, I Am and then tells you specifically who He is and what that means in relation to you. · Isaiah 43: 5, Another I Am, and a reassurance for us that He is here with us through everything. · Isaiah 43: 10, Here God is telling us, who He is in relation to everything and everyone else. Then again, letting us know our place in relation to Him with a description of our place with Him. · Isaiah 43: 12, God refers to himself as I Am throughout the Bible, and then in the New Testament Jesus does as well. · In Malachi 3, we read “I the Lord do not change.“ · Hebrews 13:8 that He is the same yesterday, today and forever. When He says I Am, there is no limitation. · Isaiah 64:4, This again explains who God is in relation to us, but also tells us something about who He is in providing for us. There is a two-way communication, implies relationship with Him. · Isaiah 64: 8, This is the perfect analogy for accepting who He is in relation to us, shaping us in to what he creates us to be· Daniel 7:13, He is talking of Jesus. Jesus is able to approach God and be in His presence, Jesus defends us from the accuser · Satan has many names: Prince of Darkness, Beelzebub, the Antichrist, Father of Lies, Ancient Serpent. · Revelation 12;10, the accuser, satan, is always present to trick us, deceive us into doing what is against God and then he goes to God and accuses us so that he can get permission to evoke a penalty. · Job 1:6, Satan telling the Lord he was outroaming throughout the earth, going Support the showhttp://instagram.com/conqueringourunseenenemieshttps://www.facebook.com/conqueringourunseenenemies/https://twitter.com/DawnConqueringhttps://pin.it/3meY5IS

Welcome Back! I am your host Dawn Simmons and in this episode of Conquering Our Unseen Enemies we are continuing our discussion of the spiritual gifts and in this episode we are discussing miraculous powers. This is the 9th gift, our last gift to discuss and the last episode of 2023. What a great topic to close out the 2023 and begin 2024 with. All these gifts are alive and active in 2024, just as they were in 34! Top Show points:· Discussed the Gift of Miraculous Powers. This gift is alive today. · 1 Corinthians 12:4-11.· To summarize the 9 Spiritual Gifts are: wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, healings, miraculous powers, prophecy, discerning of spirits, tongues, interpretation of tongues. · There are Power Gifts, Revelation Gifts and Spoken Gifts· Acts 8:26, Philip gave the gospel to the Ethiopian Eunich then was transported by the Holy Spirit to Azotus· 2 Kings 13:20, dead man came back to life after being thrown into Elisha’s tomb and touched his body.· The Holy Spirit is the same Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the same God Elisha worshipped. This is the same God that parted the Red Sea. God hasn’t changed, we have. · God’s power hasn’t diminished, we just stopped pursuing Him and instead look to do everything in our own power. · Story of a man from Latin America being transported to a man in Europe in a time of need.· Matthew 14:15, multiplication of the fish and the loaves of bread· Heidi Baker has seen this happen in her ministry in Mozambique. · Why does it happen for some people and not others? If you are willing to believe with me that miracles can still happen, then isn’t the next natural question how can you be a part of this? What is it about the people or circumstances of today that are allowing these miracles to occur? · 6 common traits of those who receive miracles today:o First Their heart is positioned for the Lord. They have a need, they voice that need, and they present it to the Lord. o Second, all of these people also had a true relationship with the Lord, spending time with Him. o Third, all of these people submitted their request to him and surrendered their need in faith. o Fourth, when He provided, all acknowledged it was by the hand of God. o Fifth, all of these people were humble before during and after. o Sixth, these people exhibited a spirit of thankfulness even as they made the request, they were thankful no matter what.· While the Lord may reserve some miracles to be done with people He has anointed, a miracle of multiplication combined with faith can produce a miraculous outcome· If we position our hearts with His and we pursue Him, miracles can happen anywhere at anytime. Welcome Back! I am your host Dawn Simmons and in this episode of Conquering Our Unseen Enemies and in this episode we are discussing the gift of healings. Our purpose is to reveal what the Bible tells us about it, look at some healings in the Bible. Next week, as we close out the year, we will discuss miraculous powers to complete this series on the Spiritual Gifts. Top Show points:· We continued our discussion of the spiritual gifts and in this episode we discussed the gift of healings. · 1 Corinthians 12:4-11· 9 Spiritual Gifts are: wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, healings, miraculous powers, prophecy, discerning of spirits, tongues, interpretation of tongues. · There are Power gifts, Revelation gifts and Spoken gifts· The gift of healings. This gift is often treated with such skepticism and those who have it are frequently maligned and dishonored. · Today, we rely on science, on being able to prove things definitively that we won’t allow a place in our world for healings. Our rational mind won’t accept them, it’s like a veil covering our eyes from the truth of God. The enemy is the one that has created that veil.· The gift of healings is not where people are praying for someone to be healed. The gift of healings is not where the elders come and lay hands on and anoint someone who is ill. That is what we should be doing, but it does not require an anointing to do. · The gift of healings is a spiritual gift, a supernatural gift. It will only function out of the power of the Holy Spirit. · Paul, Acts 28, the aftermath of the shipwreck, Paul and the men washed ashore onto Malta and healed everyone. · There are those who have or have had a healing ministry, and they are exceptional in healing Diabetes, but not as successful in heart conditions. · Example with Jesus, Luke 8 where woman was healed just by touching his cloak· Acts 19, Paul was in Ephesus and people were healed by touching his cloak without him being present, just a piece of it.· Shared a story from years ago when I received my anointing for gift of healing from Randy Clark· Shared story of praying for woman over her rent and then praying over her eyes, to recover from blindnessWe encourage you: · To have an active Bible reading plan, it will be helpful in gaining wisdom and understanding and it is required for the gift of spiritual discernment · If you want to learn more about how to Hear God's Voice, visit our website, lovingconversationssalo.com. My book, Loving Conversations: How to Pray and Hear God's Voice has helped so many people in their relationship with the Lord, check out the testimonials. There is also a companion Study Guide. Welcome Back! I am your host Dawn Simmons and in this episode of Conquering Our Unseen Enemies we are continuing our discussion of the spiritual gifts and this episode is specifically devoted to the gift of a word of knowledge, which is one of the Revelation gifts. We are going to go through some examples of how the Holy Spirit uses us with a word of knowledge, some do’s and don’ts if you are looking to develop this gift and clarify what this gift is not. Top Show points:· Discussed word of knowledge, one of the Revelation gifts. · 1 Corinthians 12:4-11.· Power Gifts, Spoken Gifts, Revelation Gifts · The 9 Spiritual Gifts are: wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, healings, miraculous powers, prophecy, discerning of spirits, tongues, interpretation of tongues. · Like the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge has zero to do with the amount of natural or human knowledge we have obtained. · A word of knowledge relates to a fact, whether it is past or present. A word of knowledge entails a person receiving a word of knowledge, or information, that they could not have known otherwise but for that information being revealed through the Holy Spirit. · Example of a meeting where I gave a word to a woman that included both a word of knowledge and a word of wisdom.· John 1:43, Jesus used the gift of a word of knowledge and Nathanael believes Him because Jesus gave Nathanael a fact that Jesus could not have known on his own. · There are times you have to use discernment. Not all words of knowledge provided by the Holy Spirit are meant to be shared. A word of knowledge can be provided to provide background or context for a situation so you can respond or react appropriately. Ex, abuse· Everything is done for His glory, not to expose or embarrass anyone. · 2 Kings 6: 8, God was giving Elisha a word of knowledge· An unintended consequence for the person who has this gift is the people around you may shy away from you. God is all knowledge, and nothing is hidden from Him. People are fearful of what about them that you may know.· When the Lord chooses to use someone for the gift of knowledge, it is at God’s discretion, not ours. We have no control over when, where, why, how much or for what purpose. We are just obedient with what He has asked us to do with the information. · If the Lord wants to share something that will be used for his glory to help bring someone closer to Him, then He will share it. · If the Lord is trusting you with information, that trust should not be violated. If you are not trustworthy in this area, then how can the Lord trust you with His gift.· Words of knowledge reveal circumstances or events from the past or the present, not the future. The reason it is used will be revealed at the time and always for God’s purposes, not man’s. We encourage you: · If you want to learn more about how to Hear God's Voice, visit our website, lovingconversationssalo.com. Welcome Back! I am your host Dawn Simmons and in this episode of Conquering Our Unseen Enemies we are discussing the spiritual gifts and this episode is the gift of Wisdom. We are talking about a supernatural level of wisdom, one of the Revelation gifts. To get to a better understanding we need to lay the foundation. Top Show points:· Discussed the spiritual gift of Wisdom, which is one of the Revelation gifts. · 1 Corinthians 12· Power Gifts, Spoken Gifts, Revelation Gifts· The 9 Spiritual Gifts are: wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, healings, miraculous powers, prophecy, discerning of spirits, tongues, interpretation of tongues. · The definition of wisdom is: the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise. · Worldly wisdom and Supernatural wisdom are not in the same family. · To understand wisdom, we have to first believe, understand and trust that this gift is truly, positively and absolutely given to us by the One True God. There is no other source of supernatural wisdom. · This gift is like no wisdom here on earth, that is generated by man, no matter what they do, no matter what their education, no matter what their IQ. · 1 Corinthians 2, Paul discussed Godly wisdom· We should all be on the same page that the One True God knows the past, the present and the future. · The gift of wisdom isn’t just a stand-alone gift and it is more than just one thing. It is a set of something in a moment in time that relates to a set of something in the future. Remember earthly wisdom and spiritual wisdom are not related. · Genesis 6, verse 11, 7:11 · The Lord gave Noah a word of wisdom, meaning He gave him an explanation of an event coming in the future and what he would need to do to avoid that destruction. · New Testament example of a word of wisdom being given in Acts 9. In this example we saw two gifts in operation, the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge. · Discussed Saul’s encounter with the Lord on his way to Damascus. · Acts 9:10· Example of a word of knowledge when God shared with Ananias Saul was in Damascus and where he was staying, and Saul’s vision. That was a word of knowledge revealed through the Holy Spirit, Ananias could not have known on his own. · The word of wisdom. The Holy Spirit says he will use Saul in the future as His chosen instrument to proclaim the gospel to the Gentiles. · Ananias chose to obey the word of wisdom given and the world was changed as a result. · To further clarify, the word of wisdom is not what Solomon operated with, that was an elevated level of earthly wisdom to navigate what happens on earth at a given time. · It is one thing to have earthly wisdom and it is another to use it. If the Holy Spirit gives you something, use it, don’t squander it. If you are growing through our podcast, consider supporting us as we continue to build Welcome back! I am your host Dawn Simmons and in this episode of Conquering Our Unseen Enemies we are going to talk about how we are preparing ourselves to be used by the Holy Spirit. This is part of our discussion on the Spiritual Gifts, how you wonder? Well, specifically, we are going to talk about whether we are an opportunity or a resource the Holy Spirit can use. You might think they both sound good but as we dig in deeper you will see that they are nothing alike and we should be striving to be one much more than the other. So let’s dig in. As always, let’s discuss our Top Show points: · Discussed how we are preparing ourselves to be used by the Holy Spirit. · This is part of our discussion on the Spiritual Gifts, as we discussed whether we are an opportunity or a resource the Holy Spirit can use. · Opportunity: a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something· Resource: a stock or supply of money, materials, staff, and other assets that can be drawn on by a person or organization in order to function effectively. · 1 Corinthians 12:4, Lists the gifts of the Spirit · Develop our gifts so that these gifts are a part of who we are and we can use any and all of them as needed, as directed. In doing this, we become a resource, more than just an opportunity. · God can use anyone, anything, at anytime, doesn’t even need to be a believer. · Numbers 22:21. Story of Balaam and his donkey and how God used the donkey as an opportunity to get Balaam’s attention and direct him what He wanted him to do and not do· The donkey was used in a miraculous way. We are not desiring to be the donkey, we are desiring to be like Jesus, where we move and do as the Holy spirit directs us and nothing limits us. · Acts 10:9, Story of Peter receiving a vision on a rooftop and being directed to go with the men who were coming for him.· Peter then shared the gospel message and all of Cornelius’ family were saved, so many that Peter was there a few days. The Holy Spirit fell on Cornelius’ family the same as it did at Pentecost with them speaking in tongues and praising God. · The difference here is Peter developed his relationship with the Holy Spirit, he took time out of his day to pray. He also received the interpretation of the vision and was obedient to the Holy Spirit.· Peter gives us an example of obedience. · This is the life we want to be living. When we are living in this way, the enemy cannot move in our lives. He can attack, but when we are that in tune with the Holy Spirit in our lives, the enemy will not be able to gain traction. · Alexandria Troas, in modern day Turkiye. Paul on his way back from Macedonia headed to Jerusalem but stopped for 7 days in Alexandria Troas. If you want to what this city looks like today, check out our YouTube channel, Life Journey with Dawn Simmons this week. · Acts 20:7, Story of Eutychus falling out the window, dying and Paul raised him from the dead.· Paul was able to be a resource and bring him back to life. That is a miraculous event. They saw it more frequently in the first century than we do now, but it could still be done, it requires a supernatural level of faith and the presence of the Holy Spirit. Welcome Back! I am your host Dawn Simmons and in this episode of Conquering Our Unseen Enemies we are continuing our discussion of the spiritual gifts and this episode is specifically devoted to the gift of Faith. What we are talking about here is a supernatural level of faith. It is the greatest of the 3 power gifts. I would even argue that it is the greatest of all the gifts because without it, you can’t operate in any of the gifts. You have to have a supernatural level of faith in order to know without failing that what you are doing in His name is going to do what it is supposed to do. We don’t all have this level of faith. We don’t all operate at a level where we can speak in His name and know that every time we do, it will come to pass. If you are growing through our podcast, consider supporting us as we continue to build the Kingdom of God. You can support us for as little as $3/month. https://www.buzzsprout.com/1995558/supportI hope this has been time that inspires you to want to learn to grow in your relationship with the Lord and build your faith to partner with Him at a supernatural level.
