Was David Berkowitz really the Son of Sam, singular? Or was there a group of Sons of Sam, plural? Regardless of the Satanic Panic that author Maury Terry dives into, it's a question worth asking: did Berkowitz act alone? In 1992, John Barbour made a film about Jim Garrison's investigation of JFK's murder and an interview that Garrison gave him to discuss the details frankly. There was a part 2 issued several years later that I will talk about in a future episode. I endeavored to survey older adults who were at or above working age in 1970. What do they remember about 1970s stagflation? What do they remember about inflation and wages? Which was worse: 1970s stagflation or the 1982 recession that followed? More than 80% of respondents - unbidden - shared with me: "The current economy is worse than I remember it being in the 1970s." Frankly, that should scare the hell out of you. Links:https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/stagflation.asphttps://www.cbsne...

The film Executive Action was released on November 7, 1973. In his interview with author Brent Holland, Mark Lane describes writing the screenplay with Donald Freed with the intention for Donald Sutherland to produce the movie. That fell through and the film was rewritten by Dalton Trumbo. Lane's intention was to point a clear finger at the C!A but the film was retooled to ensure the only organization absolved was the C!A. ⚠️ Film spoilers lie ahead.Links:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ex...

A subtitle of this episode could be: Welcome to Hell. We tend to think domestic spying was a post- 9 1 1 knee jerk reaction. The facts don't show that to be the case. Tomorrow, May 29th, is JFK's birthday. Given the efforts over the years to recast him as everything from a closet Communist to a right-wing neocon to an all-around jerkwad, I wanted to do something different for this bonus episode. The purpose here is not sackcloth and ashes, but rather to focus on the positives. Seven Days in May is based on a novel of the same name by Fletcher Knebel and Charles W. Bailey II. It was published in September of 1962. Kennedy read the novel and encouraged the book's adaptation to film. It details a military coup against a President who's turned to peace and seeks détente with the Soviet Union. Sadly the film wasn't released until February 12, 1964.⚠️ Spoilers lie ahead! Links:https://tubitv.com/movies/100012528/seven-days-in-mayhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_...
