A Conversation with Devin Berry
Devin Berry, a dharma teacher and co-founder of Deep Time Liberation, an ancestral healing journey that explores the impact of ancestral legacy and intergenerational trauma on Black Americans. He's been practicing meditation for more than two decades, and his approach is primarily informed by the classical teachings of early Buddhism and the Insight Meditation tradition. Devin’s training includes Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher training, the East Bay Meditation Center Commit to Dharma Program, Spirit Rock’s Dedicated Practitioners Program, and Insight Meditation Society’s four-year Residential Retreat Teachers Program. Devin also co-founded both the Teen Sangha and Men of Color Deep Refuge Group at East Bay Meditation Center in Oakland.  He is passionate about the power of witnessing and storytelling as a liberation tool. He is deeply committed to the personal and collective liberation of marginalized communities, knowing that through the integration of reflection and insight, clarity and wisdom give rise to wise action. I invite to visit www.devinberry.org or https://www.deeptimelib.org to learn more about Devin's work.In this episode, I refer to a 1989 film by Marlon Riggs titled Tongues Untied. You may find a short clip with the referenced text here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0ulJASJ7AwLastly, I mentioned that I was re-reading “The Conversation” by James Baldwin but in French this time. Interestingly, that’s the title used for “Go Tell it on the Mountain” in France. A Conversation with Tracy L. Stewart
Today, I had the pleasure of speaking to Tracy L. Stewart about racial justice, mental health care, and the healing of Black and Brown folks. Candid, experienced, and funny as hell, she provided so many nuggets of wisdom during our time together.  Tracy L. Stewart is mindfulness-based mental health therapist, wellness educator, end of life care provider, and healing justice activist in Seattle, WA.  She currently serves on the board of A Sacred Passing, a BIPoC centered healing justice and end of life care organization.  She also serves as co-facilitator of Buddhist Peace Fellowship (BPF) – Seattle, and has served on several participatory budget granting projects. She sees her role in community as working to create supportive, safer space for BIPoC folks in discovering their gifts through mindfulness practice and social justice awareness. Her cup is filled by the outside places, silly friends with microphones, passion for life, and folks sharing their good medicine with each other. Tracy co-founded Gathering Roots Wellness with Nikki Chau, with the intention of creating a place where that burden can be released, people can fill their cups with joyful learning and the beauty of the Earth. Currently, Tracy is supporting small BIPoC grassroots and nonprofits with resource mobilization, grant making, and justice-centered organizational development.I invite you to connect with Tracy via https://www.linkedin.com/in/tracy-l-stewart-ma-med-lmhc-776b5328/. Please visit https://comethrublacksheep.com/ for exclusive content, sponsorships, and other ways you can support the podcast.
