Episode 4- Ginger Cookies

For this week's episode, we are once again looking, not at an entree, but this time at everyone's favorite part of a meal- the dessert! This recipe is one that I learned early on, and has been a favorite of mine and my friends every time. This is a sweet cookie, but also has a good molasses flavor behind it. And best of all, it's easy and quick to make! So I hope you have a big sweet tooth, because today we are making cookies!

Time- 45 minutes

Difficulty (1-10)- 4

Ingredients-

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cups shortening
  • 4 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • cinnamon sugar mixture (1/8 cup sugar and 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon works well

Tools-

  • Mixing bowl
  • spatula
  • oven, preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  • baking sheets (usually 2)
  • non-stick spray or parchment paper
  • cooling rack
