You’ve been my direct route to podcasters like everything under the Puzzle in a Thunderstorm umbrella, Hemant Metah and Jess at The Friendly Atheist, Seth Andrews, Thomas Smith, and even Skeptics with a K. Cecil, congrats on your new show with Marsh! Thank you for listening to Joe so we don’t have to! Tom! I hope your wife is doing better - I loved your relationship pod with her and hope that comes back! I also loved listening to DOD even though I am a DINK with pets. And one more thing, Tom - it was hilarious learning that you didn’t know about the UFC fight at the Whitehouse. I could almost hear the tears forming in your eyes. But I get it… with so much being thrown at us to distract us, it is truly difficult to even catch every single bit of idiocracy being perpetrated on a daily basis.

Due to the fact that your parents named you one of the most common names in the English language but didn’t bother to look up (as in, “Google”) or ask a friend (presumptuous, perhaps, to assume your parents have friends) how to spell it properly, my guess is that you were raised by feral, illiterate, filthy creatures who’s entire home library consisted of a Holy Bible (still in the plastic it came in) and a Victoria’s Secret Catalogue that was sent as part of a promotion to your parents’ double-wide back in 1998, that your dad keeps around in case of emergency,—i.e. he can’t get internet access but needs to rub one out), and perhaps exempt from blame for your poor taste and lack of discernment. You don’t ask someone who was raised on a steady diet of HotPockets, Takis and Mountain Dew to determine which restaurants and chefs deserve a Michelin star and which don’t, for obvious reasons. Since you still live in their root cellar/basement, growing in size but not in culture or intelligence, your opinion of the best podcast in the history of podcasts carries less weight than a hummingbird’s fart. I pray you never have another satisfying bowel movement, I pray your phone bursts into flames before you have a chance to upload your babies first steps to the cloud, I pray you lose your right hand in a tragic fireworks accident and your left hand in the doors of the ambulance while you’re being transported to the hospital. *quoting Bhad Bhabie, so as to “meet/reach you at your level.”

I’ve been listening for years, but I’m a centrist and these guys are super progressive who don’t know what cog dis is, smh. “Trump took kids away from their parents at the border!” So did Obama… and Biden kicked more illegal immigrants out of the country than Trump ever did. No comment other than what Trump did though. Cog dis shouldn’t include minimizing what the President that belongs to the party they belong to does, OR… maximizing something that the other side does that their own people also do. But… it’s hard to not have cognitive dissonance unless you’re neutral… which they absolutely aren’t. Edit- I’m still listening to it years later and they’re still the same, but I’m updating my review. Like… legitimately, I’m listening to how they should think… but they won’t because they’re Progressive. They literally contradict themselves. I listen to them doing it every week. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Another review said, “Truly the craziest people I’ve ever listened to. Deranged and deeply resentful. Completely out of touch with reality.” That review was meant to be left for their local church but they accidentally left it on this podcast. Here’s my 5 star review to offset that.

This episode is one of the two or three best podsodes I’ve ever listened to. From anybody. Great show all over, but today was standout.

These hosts suffer from the very name of the show.With the amount of information available it is comical they don’t use any.

This is the cumination of the GOPs 50 year plan begun in 1975. But I was treated as an odd because I called them on their fascism ever since then. With Drumpf they began shouting the quiet part out loud.

I’m reading these reviews and some are hilarious!! “oh… you go too far,…”whine!” Not far enough. We are not all the same. Nor do we treat each other fairly. We have these “pseudo-suit,” fake liberals that want “fair and balanced.” The truth isn’t fair to the mind of a magical thinker. You guys are fresh air in a polluted hellscape. Midwesterners don’t play! You make me proud to be one. Go get ‘em!!

I have listened to this for a long time (I think 5 years) and only missed a few episodes. I am left leaning and always have been but how far they have went is just too much for me. I agree with some things but find myself so far from what they are talking about now. (Very progressive) which I still would listen to in order to get all view points. But I feel like they just scream and say everyone that thinks differently or has different opinions is a horrible person. I think both sides have gone way too far and feels like everyone has lost their minds. I wish people would actually listen to each other and try and fully understand other perspectives. Wish them the best just can’t handle the negativity anymore.

Great, tender & genuine conversations between two besties

I listened for a while. It’s sometimes funny but the hosts have little real world knowledge while presenting themselves as wise know it alls. I’d pass and find a more interesting podcast if I was you.

A great show with intelligent and funny hosts.

Loved listening to you guys up until your last show, #737. Don’t put people down that live in vans. I live in a van. You don’t know what people’s situations are as to why they have chosen that lifestyle. To be so dismissive and judgmental turned me off so much that I am unfollowing. I won’t waste my time on people that assume the worst just because they don’t ‘approve’ of someone’s lifestyle. Just thought you should know.

Except not, the raw visceral hatred in that man's voice is something ill never forget from the daily car rides with my dad growing up. Glad he's gone

What’s up with the World Vision ads? Trigger warning for those who have ever been aurally raped at a CCM concert.

Been listening since about episode 50 or so. Tom and Cecil have changed over the years. They've become more compassionate and entertaining. They are willing to admit when they make a mistake. Which is an important attribute. Also, I love Ian McKellen. Those Adam and Eve ads were on point.

Their jokes are generally funny, the segments are informative at times, and their fundraising efforts are very noble, but their Liberal reactionary tendencies (lukewarm center-left) and extreme TDS will leave you rolling your eyes at the cognitive dissonance required to maintain such unserious, Blue MAGA stances, and reaching for the “Advance 30sec” button.

I wish podcasts would have disclaimers if they are politically biased or don’t at least have different perspectives. I tried but this podcast is little more than leftist drivel.

These guys are the best!

This is a great show. I read some of the one star reviews and they’re funny. They’re clearly from people who never listened to the show. Political, anti-religious… good stuff.

This show needs to be recategorized from religion to politics cause that’s all it is anymore. I was an avid listener from 2011 up until just a couple years ago. I listened to most of the whole Puzzle in a Thunderstorm lineup for a solid decade until pretty much all the shows abandoned humorous discussions related to religion and skepticism in favor of woke ranting and insulting anyone who doesn’t think exactly like they do. I guess if you enjoy far-left diatribes, hurling insults anyone who believes in any sort of afterlife or spirituality, smug virtue-signaling, wishing death on those you disagree with, and mocking republicans, then this is the show for you. But for actual independent thinkers, there is no relevant content here anymore. The hosts have a case of TDS worthy of its own wikipedia page, I imagine flying spittle coating their mics as they rage over the fact that there are people out there who don’t vote blue no matter who. Absolutely narrow-minded, hate-filled, and juvenile. Grow up and stop consuming yourselves with anger before you give yourselves strokes.

These guys research thought-provoking articles and then have interesting, challenging, often angry discussions about them and it totally works. Cecil says “period” way too much, which is an unattractive quality in any discourse, but since Tom always agrees with him it doesn’t come off as bad as it would it an actual debate. This podcast is very well-suited for “progressive but not Lincoln-hating crazy” dems, but if you’re looking for perspectives on both sides, it’s not for you. I would prefer if they gave some openness to the existence of a higher power but it’s not a dealbreaker. It’s the podcast you wish your right-wing dbag uncle would listen to and actually consider but that will never happen.

All of the content is at least 2–4 weeks old, and the hosts seem to have embraced this. I used to be a regular listener… Why would I keep listening for stories I’ve already heard? Tom and Cecil: I listen for interesting atheist–related news. Without the news, you are not interesting enough.

The topics are fine and your opinions are great, but it gets tiring listening to people screaming into a microphone. Stop yelling.

Tom is my favorite

I enjoy listening to these guys and agree with them on almost everything. However, they disappointed me with their lack of skepticism and questioning in the later phase of Covid-19. They and other skeptics became MAGA Blue or sounded like religious authoritarians and demonized anyone that asked questions. Their stance on take the shot and ask no questions because science says so was echoed by many as they ignored or drowned out the traditional scientific method. Because these guys and some other of my favorite skeptics REFUSED to ask questions regarding Covid-19 I was temporarily forced to stomach and listen in on shows like Ben Shapiro, Fox News, The McCullough Report, etc. All of whom I disagree with 99% of the time. But at least they were asking questions about Covid and talking to doctors that questioned the vaccine and had alternative treatment methods.

These two were my introduction to the modern day skeptic podcastosphere, couldn’t ask for two more insanely well-educated, worldly, and intelligent yet unpretentious men to start with. Providing insightful takes back to back with unrelenting humor. And of course, a shout out must be made to Ian’s ad skits! Love it!

Honestly these guys are hilarious. They really explain how they feel on subjects and laugh at the absurdity of the outlying ideas on a political spectrum. My only problem is that there is no debate or attack on the other party for their flaws and outlying views. All hosts completely agree with one another and have no varying views. Claiming to think critically with skepticism on “any” topic that makes the news is really just a way for these guys to say “we’re telling our opinions on how the other party is wrong for this item… oh and we all agree with each other, so it’s all bad and just unthinkably stupid.”

Being skeptical only of things you believe aren’t true isn’t being a skeptic…

These people are morons. They are so blinded by the fact that republicans are evil that they cannot see that democrats are enabling the republican evil. They get so hurt by the truth that they insult anyone who tries to tell them, and then throws a hissy fit and claim people are calling them names. They are too stupid to realized they started the name calling. I will say the truth one more time but I doubt they got a brain cell left to listen. “Blue no matter who” is not a winning strategy and it is the reason why we lost roe v wade and vote shaming never works. You have to give people a reason to vote for your guy and “but trump” is not a reason.

I really love all your shows, but please stop fake laughing.
