After a few weeks off, I have anther interview! Today I spoke with my friend Josh Olfert. Josh is the founder of Haven Wealth Management where he advises millions of dollars worth of accounts. Recently he has begun a YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjVbULafeplOeL_wva3i1DQ) where he discusses a wide variety of topics when it comes to personal finance. I really enjoyed this conversation and believe there is a ton of value to be found in it!

So yesterday I spoke about my current routine. One thing that I've implemented to stay the course is an idea I call: Acceptable Minimum Activity. Basically, what is the least I can do an activity and still feel as if I accomplished something. You may think this a strange way to be productive, but basically I imagine the busiest day I could, or a day I feel I have absolutely no energy. On that day what could I accomplish in a number of areas of my life, because if I could do it that day, I could do it everyday. Often times I far surpass this minimum, which is awesome. On the days I don't I am ok with that, knowing I was still productive and able to do it the next day all over again.

Last Spring when it seemed the whole world shut down I wasn't nearly as productive as I would've liked. I had a ton of ideas of what I could do, had the time to do them but after a week of working extremely hard I burnt out. Learning from that, I was a little more prepared for this shutdown. After a few days of figuring it out I've settled into a routine I've been able to keep for a few weeks now.

I have repeatedly spoken about my love of cliches in these journal entries. I tried to think of one that I didn't agree with and this was the result. As someone who grew up with self confidence issues, I tried my best to act confident. This combined with a proclivity to want to please people lead me to being in a much worse position. I finally started to gain confidence by actually doing/accomplishing things. Although I still have moments of doubt, I generally carry myself with a confidence I was never sure I'd possess.

I spoke about accountability yesterday. That is an external motivator. Today I speak about value, an internal source of motivation. We as humans place are value in things, and whether conscious or not we act based on these values. Few years ago I went through the process of actually writing out things that I value and prioritized them. By doing this, I now have a framework, a filter of sorts, to help make decisions. Let me know what you think of this.

Believe it or not, I am someone who isn't naturally productive. If left to my own devices I tend to be quite lazy actually. In this video I discuss my thoughts on accountability, the first time really understanding the power of it and how I now use social as a tool to get the things I know I want to get done, done.

Recently I have become captivated by "The Hero's Journey". I'm started to watch films and read books of people, both fictional and real life examples of people who embody that. Doing this reminded me of a concept Gary Vaynerchuk expressed years ago. Document, don't create. I have experimented with that in the past, resulting in one of the more fulfilling periods of my life. I fell off the wagon, but I'm back. I am striving to live a life that is worth documenting, to become as heroic as I can be.

I first met Ben 3 years ago on a trip to England and what could've been a completely one off encounter has turned into an extremely close friendship. Ben travelled to Canada to live in Winnipeg for a summer that would go on to alter the course of the rest of his life. We talk about the lasting impact that trip had and what role it plays in pursuing his passion: Acting. It is always a pleasure catching up with my brother, I hope you enjoy listening into one of our conversations.

"We often overestimate what we can accomplish in a year and underestimate what we can do in five" is a quote that has been circulating in my head for a few weeks now. I decided to try to organize my thoughts on it.

Probably the funniest guy that I know personally, Bueno has become quite the voice in our city of Winnipeg. Through his platform on the discontinued Winnipeg's Finest Podcast, his Instagram (@buenonobueno) and now his new venture "The Bueno Report", Nic has found a niche in asking the questions that many people think, but may not have the courage to say. I highly recommend you all to check the first couple of episodes of "The Bueno Report" on YouTube and that you enjoy this conversation!
