This week we begin our discussions of theology and anthropology by considering an ancient Catholic rite that has been unique to one city for over 1000 years, the Ambrosian Rite of Milan. This leads us into a discussion of the fine distinctions between ritual, routines, and tradition. Then we turn to American culture and democracy, and discuss our role in preserving and challenging it.
