In this week’s episode, Shelby and Charlie pull the curtains away from one of America’s most gruesome unsolved murders, the case of Elizabeth Short, the “Black Dahlia.” Born and raised in Massachusetts in 1924, Elizabeth was one of 5 daughters of Cleo and Phoebe Short. With her father having abandoned the family, later found to be living in California, Elizabeth, her mother, and siblings would be left to fend for themselves. Soon after finding out her father was in California, she went to stay with him and wanted to become an actress. On her travels and adventures, she would cross paths with hundreds of people, would date many men, would become engaged, and would ultimately be on the run. Last seen on January 9, 1947, Elizabeth would be found again, chopped in two, on the morning of January 15, 1947. The investigation into her murder would yield hundreds of suspects, would reveal corrupt cops, and would end up going unsolved, even to this day.
