After a childhood in LA, where a coffee order classified as conversation, i have to say i developed a certain allergy to the film industry. Off I went as soon as I could, to do other things in other places. But, as fate often hocks a spitball in our eye, I now find myself a cinephile, and compelled to eat my words, or at least blend them in an oxygen-enhanced, alfalfa wellness smoothie. I have a lot to catch up on though, so I was looking for podcasts to bridge the gap, informative yet unpretentious, in which nobody mentioned what kind of car they drive (if they drive at all). Enter Cinetopia. I was delighted to find both the content and the tone of the podcast to be friendly and accessible while also educational and intelligent — the references to other films that the hosts are reminded of are welcome rabbit holes, and i feel like each episode I have heard (now all of them) has been time well spent with smarter, cooler friends who, through their curiosity, honesty and experience best represent the power of cinema.

This is my go to podcast each month to keep abreast of the latest cinema releases worth watching. I appreciate the knowledge of the hosts and find their opinions and discussions entertaining. Being a listener in the US, I also find the UK perspective so refreshing. For anyone who loves to discuss and banter on the finer aspects of films, filmmaking and cinema as a cultural touchstone and craft, you will feel right at home and among friends with this podcast.
