Cholla Needles - Lisa Mednick Powell April 2020
This set by Lisa Mednick Powell covers 30 years of music in a half hour. The presentation was created to play loud 1/2 hour before our annual Poetry Month live extravaganza. The Corona Pandemic has stopped the world, so I reached out to Lisa to see if we can still thrill our audience with her performance poetry over the internet. Guaranteed to be 100% virus free - this set is entitled "Freedom Songs", and all the poetry in this set appears in issue 40 of Cholla Needles - April 2020. Five of the performances are culled from three of Lisa's solo albums - Artifacts Of Love (1993), Semaphore (2002), and Blue Book (2017). Her composition Face In The Crowd from 1987 was recently re-recorded and appears on the new Song Dogs CD entitled Light In The Distance (2020).
