Still one of the best around
This podcast is from one of my favorite news resources and still one of the best around. For anyone interested in the reproductive justice field, pro-choice or anti-abortion, PLEASE listen to this podcast. Episodes focus on individual abortion storytellers whose experiences are then contextaulized within the policy landscape by the host. I learned so much about the broader medical system by listening. The mini-series on reproductive injustice is also must-listen especially now in the context of forced sterilizations at the border. To understand our present, you have to understand the long history and this podcast is a great place to start. From what I remember, the regular seasons ended up fairly whitewashed though I know they tried to make an effort, but the miniseries focuses almost exclusively on Black women and other women of color and is vital listening.

Compelling journalism about an important issue
I stumbled upon Choice/less through an instagram ad and subsequently binge-listened to all of it over a couple days. Strongly recommend for anyone passionate about reproductive justice.

Thank you!
After a high school classmate shared this on facebook, I had a listen and I’m so glad Jen is putting this out there, as one of her Our Lady of Nazareth classmates myself. Catholic school brainwash is a serious problem that it took me many years to get over. This is so important!

WOW!
I’m ashamed to admit I had no idea this podcast existed until I began listening to Boom Lawyered in the last 4 months. This podcast is INVALUABLE KNOWLEDGE regarding the rights of women and their health care. I encourage everyone to start with the first season and don’t stop. #StopKavanaugh

Thank you.
I had my abortion when I was 19 years old. I am 21 now and it’s still hard to talk about. I went through it alone and stayed with my mentally and emotionally abusive boyfriend for a year after my abortion because I felt like he was the only one who knew what I went through. This makes me feel like I am not alone, everyone’s stories are so important. Thank you to everyone who shares them.

Amazing Personal Stories
Having discovered this podcast last week, I’ve burned through all of the available episodes. The personal stories are amazing, and the framing of the stories are so informative. I can not recommend this podcast enough.

Full of Logical Fallacies
(second post, last removed) This is a false representation of pro-choice movement as if they are mostly concerned with the abortive options for the absolute fringes. Even in the fringe cases though, the podcast discusses reproductive "injustice" without discussing the basic right to live which the child has. The testimonies are full of illogical arguments which are generally nothing more than appeals to emotion and are littered with testimonies for individuals who are obviously guilty of denying science. One episode falsely termed actions taken by the government as genocide for removing people’s ability to have children. While it was definitely immoral, it wasn't genocide and the narrator never discusses that. However, whenever there is obvious taking of life in the type of abortion which is common in the US, that argument is never addressed. As a randomly chosen example of the fallacies in the podcast, I picked from the Mindy Swank story: Despite being rejected by secular and religiously affiliated hospitals for not having a situation which made her abortion medically necessary, she insisted that all of the doctors she met with were ill-equipped to decide (science denying). The episode also presents the religiously affiliated hospital which has a stance of only performing "Therapeutic pregnancy termination when there is a grave and eminent threat to the life of the mother as determined by the treating OB or Gyno." This is actually a hospital that follows the "safe, legal, and rare" model which is pro-choice, but it's spun as wrong since the woman felt like it was necessary. I'll just list some of the other fallacies: - the hospital also cured her of an infection which she thought was her ticket to her abortion, then she complained that they cured her without ending the pregnancy. - "I couldn't believe that people told me that I should just die" (straw-man) - "I love this baby more than anyone else in the world; he's my baby" (begs the question) - "you should just die because you want to end his life." (straw-man) - complains that they verify whether her pregnancy termination is necessary - "[I wasn't trying to pick death; I was trying to choose when.]" (implies absolute knowledge of the future and implies correct diagnosis of the one doctor who told her) - describes the death of the baby as if it's the fault of the - "people thought they knew better than me about my body" (science denying) This podcast is intellectually dishonest at best. To be fair, I can only remember listening to the entire mini-series recently and then about half of the episodes from season 1 a few months ago whenever I first subscribed.

Thank you!!
Thank you for bringing a voice to these issues! It is so necessary these days and there is still so much shame around reproductive issues.

Much-Needed Truth Right Here
I've listened to every Choice/Less episode and find each one incredibly enlightening and moving. These kinds of stories -->> true narratives about real people and their lives -- have been totally missing in news and political 'debates' about reproductive healthcare. I'm so grateful for all of the people involved in this podcast who are working to educate the public about the cruel injustices of laws, policies and shaming attitudes that harm girls, women, families and communities.

Wonderful
This podcast is perfect. Sums up why we need reproducive rights and why those who say they are "pro-life" are actually not at all. Keep up the great work, these stories need to be told!

Listen first
Judge second. If you ever wanted to actually talk to someone who had an abortion and explain why they shouldn't, this podcast is for you. Listen to these women first. Then, consider how you would have responded in their shoes.

Real, Raw Stories that Show Need for Change
I very much appreciate this podcast. The stories are told in such a way that each person's real story can draw empathy from listeners, and facts about current policies are shared so that people's awareness can be increased about both emotional and practical needs for change in relation to reproductive rights in the U.S. Thank you so much!

Powerful stories
This is a relatively new addition to my podcast rotation but I'm really enjoying. The episodes are fairly short (less than 30 min) and the stories are so powerful and emotional - so much raw vulnerability.

Harrowing, necessary
This is some of the best storytelling I’ve heard or read regarding women’s health. Producer/host Jennifer Stanley does an incredible job curating narratives while giving women the room to tell their own stories in their own voices. It’s compelling, totally necessary podcasting. Whether you’re interested in empathic leaps or politics or both, please listen. Please tell your friends and family to listen, too.

Storytelling with the power to change hearts.
This podcast takes an issue that is frequently cast in abstractions and black and white and shows the deeply personal stories at its core. The format creates a sense of intimacy and understanding that is both moving and refreshing. Very well produced - one to watch!

Necessary addition to podcasting
Beyond its beautiful production and contextualization of the issue, this podcast is a necessary contribution to an issue and medium where storytelling is imperative. An easy listen to difficult topics.

Hard Truths, Great Storytelling
This is a fantastic, devastating, and absolutely CRITICAL podcast to add to your repertoire. The first three stories are incredibly moving and emotional—they put a real face, real names, and real experiences into the reproductive rights saga in the USA. The simple, yet brutally honest format of storytelling allows you, the listener, to really appreciate the roller coasters these women/families are on—and honestly, it’s hard to hear at times (just remember how much harder it would be to live through the experience you’re listening to!). Choice/less is a podcast that perfectly captures the intersection of current reproductive laws and powerlessness these laws are creating for women around the country. This is a podcast that you NEED to listen to, especially if you’re uninvested in the current state of reproductive care in the USA. If you are aware of the current injustices then this is a reminder of just how painful these restrictions are. We all need a reality check every now and then (or every week).

Amazing podcast!
This is a fantastic podcast that helps frame the abortion issue in human terms instead of as an abstract concept.

All the ingredients of a great podcast
Jenn Stanley does a great job collecting honest, difficult and ultimately inspiring stories of the impacts of laws limiting critical reproductive and sexual rights. Powerful Personal Accounts Call Current Policies into Question
This powerful and thought provoking podcast, told from a personal perspective, illustrates how current policies in the US impact access to reproductive healthcare. CHOICE/LESS details each woman’s attempt to navigate increasingly restrictive laws as they seek to do what they believe is the right choice for themselves and for their families. Their heartbreaking circumstances and quiet strength will move you to tears. Guaranteed to linger in the hearts and minds of the listener, these narratives are well worth a listen.

Devastatingly good
After listening to the first three episodes of Choice/Less, I’ve been recommending this podcast to friends with the warning that they will need to keep Kleenex on hand. There’s something about hearing people narrate their stories in their own words that not only illuminates the complex emotional realities of reproductive choices and the horrifying personal repercussions of restrictive state policies, but somehow authentically taps into a well of empathy (assisted by the silences producer Jenn Stanley wisely leaves in.) No matter your opinion about abortion, this podcast will give you a window into the sometimes difficult individual situations people face when deciding how, or whether, to proceed with pregnancy. I can’t wait for the next episode!
