Hola, hello mi gente!
On this chisme, I had the amazing pleasure to chat with Money & Business Coach, Lucia Ortega. We talked about the struggles of not only being a first gen but also being the one to break barriers, the one who wants to take the unconventional route to become fulfilled.
Lucia is a first-gen Mexican American. She is the first-one in her family to attend college and become a professional. In 2018, when her paternal grandfather got sick, she noticed her dad struggled emotionally and financially. She quickly realized she had to gain control of her finances and also increased her income. She then started a Party Rental Business in Los Angeles. In 2020, she started to create content on personal finance and then became coaching others to gain control of their finances and start their businesses. She taught for 5 years and have recently quit and now started a food business with her mom in South Los Angeles. Her goal is to empowered other first-gens, women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ folks become empowered to build wealth.

Yup, you read it right. Healing is ghetto sometimes... lol.
"Breaking cycles" sounds like a superhero task, which it is, but once you are actually doing the work to get there, it feels like shit sometimes. We talked about this with Lianne Torres, founder and host of the Watch Us Thrive podcast, where she talks about mental health, healing from trauma that keeps us stuck in sh*tty relationships & how we can reconnect with our inner magic.
If you are about to enter your healing journey or are in it, this is a must chisme to listen to.
Lianne is the creator and host of the Watch Us Thrive podcast, a personal development podcast that talks about mental health & healing from trauma that keeps us stuck in sh*tty relationships & how we can reconnect with our inner magic.
After overcoming a life-changing event of domestic violence in March 2021, Lianne now uses her voice to share her story to create change and normalize these uncomfortable conversations around taboo topics, like domestic violence, sexual assault, suicidal ideation & more.
Lianne is passionate about creating a safe space to talk about the trauma people have experienced and how we can turn our pain into power. She truly believes that you don’t need to let your trauma define who you are and you CAN heal from it. The first step is to talk about it.
She also features amazing guests she's met along the way of her own healing journey to share their stories of what they've gone through and how they overcame it. We all have a story to tell and the Watch Us Thrive podcast is a platform to normalize these uncomfortable conversations.

On this chisme, I had the opportunity to chat with an amazing woman-Yvette Boden. We talked about her experience with depression and how she was able to find herself back. Thanks to this experience, she was able to start a new chapter and wrote her first book, A Journey to Becoming the Best Self—inspired by Yvette’s own post-divorce, which led her to depression.
Yvette is the Founder and Author behind Awakened-Woman, a digital platform designed to inspire and invigorate females. Her writing seeks to empower and encourage women searching for personal definitions of success to build strong communities through powerful storytelling. In just two years, Awakened Woman has amassed tens of thousands of followers, thanks to a combined 500+ articles centered around celebrity profiles, relationships, love, abuse, motherhood, and Latino culture, infused with a signature blend of Yvette’s pragmatism and compassion. Yvette is also a motivational speaker, channeling her own growth experiences to empower others.
Her debut book, A Journey to Becoming the Best Self (Black Rose Writing)—part memoir and part prescriptive fiction, inspired by Yvette’s own post-divorce path from devastation to joy—was published in 2019, and received praise from The U.S. Review of Books. In 2021, she was also named one of the “Bella Bosses We Admire” by Bella Magazine.

Have you ever been told growing up, " estas llenita" or "estas gordita" "you should lose a little weight",?
A lot of us did and it was quite traumatic. Body shaming is something that we experience since we were young and we carry on until adults. The world is cruel sometimes and negative comments will always exist but at the end of the day it is up to us to decide if we want negativity define us.
On this chisme I chatted with Maria Paula Ahumada, a confidence coach and the founder of Recocha Vibes, a movement/space that help women reclaim their bodies through dance. We spoke about how she has been body shamed since she was a young girl and even now as a confidence and body movement coach.
Thanks to dance and movement she has been able to heal from body shaming and help others do the same.
Maria Paula Ahumada is a dancer, confidence coach, content creator, influencer, and model. She is a former PhD graduate student from UC Davis where she graduated with her Masters once she realized she had a higher calling. She now empowers women to reclaim their bodies and tap in to their inner light through dance and confidence building. As a survivor of sexual assault and experiencing the trauma of loosing a parent, Maria Paula understands the power of healing through movement. Therefore, by empowering women to play and take up space through movement she helps them take their confidence to the next level. She loves to use dance as a way to honor her ancestors and let her inner child play and is passionate about sharing that with as many women as possible.

One of the most basic things to do is to breathe and some of us don't know how to do it sometimes. When we feel angry, anxious or even stressed, our breath can be our self healing medicine but we are not using it properly. This is why it is important to have people like Kathy Rivera, whose work is to guide and give us the tools we need to live a healthier nd balanced life.
On this chisme we talk about her journey and how she started her work, and she gives us some breathing exercises to use on a daily basis and feel more grounded.
Kathy is a Trauma-Informed Wellness Practitioner, a heart-centered entrepreneur, and queer bruja who has an extensive background in healthcare and wellness. She’s a certified Yoga Teacher, Breathwork Guide, Behavior Change Specialist, and Reiki Healer, who’s taught a variety of yoga classes from Hatha/vinyasa, chair yoga for seniors, and SUP yoga, along with breathwork circles throughout Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Woodbridge, VA.
