Question:
- What is the significance of 40 days in Judaism?

Here are just a few insights:
- When Noach was in the ark, rain fell for 40 days and 40 nights.
- When the Jewish people were in the desert, they were there for 40 years
- When Moses was on Mt Sinai, he was up there for 40 days and 40 nights to receive the Torah
- A Mikvah (ritual bath) requires 40 "seah", to be considered kosher (slightly more than 454 liters)
- Rabbi Akiva lived till 120 and his life can be broken down into 3 periods of 40 years each. His first 40 years, his second 40 years, and his final 40 years,

What do all these have in common? 40 is a time of change, preparation, and purification.
