I love Dan. He’s totally great always and everywhere. I tolerate Isaac because he’s on the show with Dan. It drives me crazy that there aren’t more episodes and that they are released so irregularly. There seems to be very little prep or editing involved. Just get on the phone and yak, guys. Let’s go!

I love listening to these two. I would love it if more conversational podcasts would avoid having the hosts talk over each other, and try to have a little focus. (There are a lot of great nuggets about the performing arts, publishing and journalism too.)

What is it about being the third listener on these regularly occasional calls between two real friends that is so compelling? Is it the easy banter, the teasing without meanness? Sure. There’s also the laid back vibe, even if Dan or Issac gets heated up venting over a personal peeve or waxing on about a particular passion. I enjoy the randomness of the calls and the apparent lack of format. It’s just a touching of bases, a loose check in. So good.
