'Character Outs' A phrase my passive aggressive covert narcissistic mother would use my whole life to describe people she didn’t like. And let’s face it, that was pretty much everyone. “Character outs, character always outs,” she would say. Meaning, don’t worry, people’s true character will be revealed. I just find it comical that this was her favorite phrase that she used at nauseum. But in the end, it was her flawed character that came out. Hi! My name is Terri. I am just an imperfect mom and survivor of the overwhelming and relentless emotional abuse of my covert passive aggressive narcissistic/borderline personality disorder mother. Oh and I also have and an ass hole of a dad with narcissistic tendencies..yea kids, I won the toxic family jackpot! I finally woke up one day, realized my worth and went no contact with both of them. When I did though, I found that the societal perceptions of going no contact with family made me feel like a terrible person and I felt so lost and alone. Welcome to a podcast that isn't gonna tell you to fix it. You have read the books, set the boundaries, cried for change and you were left no choice but to go no contact with your toxic family. Going no contact is not a trend, it is the brave and bold decision to preserve your peace, the peace of your children and to consciously break toxic generational cycles.
