Julie Mainstone Savas has created a living history of the music handed down for generations within one family, landing finally upon the ears of the youngest child, Carrie Spinney Grover. Through letters, field recordings, Library of Congress recordings, diaries, and Carrie's own recollections of her musical childhood, Savas takes us on a musical and historical journey through the eyes of Grover's immigrant ancestors in Nova Scotia from the late 1700s through to the early 1900s when Carrie musters her remaining strength to ensure every last family song and fiddle tune is preserved for future generations.
