Podcast Episode #14
Cultivating Company Culture
Every time you reinforce the culture, you reinforce the fabric of the company - Arthur M. Blank, co-founder of Home Depot
The state of the culture within your organization is as important as ever. And much of the responsibility for it resides with you as a manager or leader.
According to a Gallup survey, 70% of the variance in team management can be traced back to their managers behavior. So yes, it matters!
In this podcast, I share five things that you need to pay attention to as it relates to cultivating culture in your organization. Focus on these and be intentional, when you do, it will begin to turn the tide and improve your culture. In the end, it's the responsibility of everyone in your organization- but ultimately, it begins with you as the leader.

Be a Leader That Lifts
A proud man is always looking down on things and people; and, of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you. - C. S. Lewis
One of the great privileges we have as leaders is to come along side others and lift them. You've heard it said, "In a world where you can be anything, be kind." Not only is it a great thought, but a great challenge to us as leaders.
The question before us today is this - are we lifting others? Or are we so busy pursing our own interests that we are leaving others behind.
The truth is this - as a leader, you are either lifting people or you are leaving people.
Which one are you doing?
On this podcast I share five characteristics of leaders that lift. I trust that these five characteristics will cause you to reflect on your own leadership style and be more intentional about lifting others.

There are lessons in life and in leadership that we learn naturally, things we learn the hard way, and things that wish we had known early-on to avoid costly mistakes.
In this podcast, I am kicking an on-going series of podcast lessons, starting with myself, and going forward with other leaders, as we talk about the things in our careers and in leadership that we wish we had known starting out.
It's not a podcast to convey that I, or guests, know it all but simply things we wish we knew starting out.
The goal here is simple- to share the lessons and to add value to you as a leader.

In leadership, finding common ground with your people is important. Maintaining it is essential - you must protect it. But why is it so hard to come by?
In this podcast, I will share three reasons why finding common ground eludes organizations. They must be identified and must be dealt with.
I will also share three ways in which you can begin to find common ground and then build upon it. When you find common ground it can change the dynamics of your organization. Once you find it you need to do everything to protect and keep it.
