Two girls with learning disabilities sharing their story.
Visible vs Invisible Disabilities
This week two of my high school friends, Marcus and Jasper, joined me to talk about their experiences with disabilities. Marcus has a learning disability and Jasper was born with cerebral palsy. They have both faced many challenges which are quite unique from one another, but as brothers (twins to be specific) they share a unique perspective and understanding of what one another has gone through. We discuss what challenges they have faced, how their disability has effected their view of themselves and how that has changed with time, and misconceptions surround disabilities.

Dealing with Misconceptions and Discrimination Surrounding Learning Disabilities
In this episode Jada shares her experience of being discriminated against by a professor, how she handled it and how it effected her. We also discuss what it is like to share our diagnosis with friends and peers, how they react and how that makes us feel. It can be hard to share something so personal about yourself when you are afraid it might not be responded to with kindness, we hope that sharing this makes someone with a similar experience feel less alone and we hope that people without learning disabilities can come to understand how their reaction might effect someone.
