Welcome to Call The Huddle — Former Georgia Tech Linebacker Charlie Thomas joined to speak on his football career thus far, and his transition into the NFL during his prep for April's draft. After growing up in Georgia, Thomas’ five-season career with the Yellow Jackets ended as one of the program’s best ever. After highlighting his East-West Shrine Bowl experience and showing he can play just about everywhere on defense, Thomas went to the NFL Combine and put up a 4.52 40-time at 216 pounds before later putting up 18 reps on the bench press.Thomas said he’s looked to Pro Bowl safety Minkah Fitzpatrick as someone to attempt to model after, and rightfully looks like him on the field as well. He discussed growing up playing all around, including safety until his first year at Georgia Tech — something that’s allowed him to develop as a linebacker with the abilities of a defensive back while remaining sub-215.
