Welcome to Call The Huddle — Former Georgia Tech Linebacker Charlie Thomas joined to speak on his football career thus far, and his transition into the NFL during his prep for April's draft. After growing up in Georgia, Thomas’ five-season career with the Yellow Jackets ended as one of the program’s best ever. After highlighting his East-West Shrine Bowl experience and showing he can play just about everywhere on defense, Thomas went to the NFL Combine and put up a 4.52 40-time at 216 pounds before later putting up 18 reps on the bench press.Thomas said he’s looked to Pro Bowl safety Minkah Fitzpatrick as someone to attempt to model after, and rightfully looks like him on the field as well. He discussed growing up playing all around, including safety until his first year at Georgia Tech — something that’s allowed him to develop as a linebacker with the abilities of a defensive back while remaining sub-215. As a former three-sport athlete, Thomas has always been one of the best athletes on the field covering returning duties along with playing cornerback since his freshman season. After playing at the East-West Shrine Bowl and highlighting 1-on-1’s, he continues to show his ability as one of the draft’s best man-to-man cornerbacks & athletes.Thomas is from Birmingham, Alabama and then spent five years at UAB in which he played in 49 games, totaling 28 pass deflections. He discussed growing up playing receiver before moving to cornerback, along with his top cornerbacks in today’s NFL and what he thinks of many other topics. As a captain, Anderson was a big reason for Tulane’s 12-win season after only two team wins in 2021, and so his insight into this season’s turnaround was similarly impressive.Anderson is from Mississippi and spent one season at the junior college level before transferring to Tulane, and so he talked about many topics such as Mississippi’s football players, his teammates and growing as a leader in such a talented locker room, and his thoughts on a few recent topics within football today. He discussed his game and hopes as a linebacker, and even some athletic marks he’s looking for at Tulane’s pro day. Martial was a walk-on at Troy in 2017, and eventually was named on the All-Sun Belt first team (2020, 2021, & 2022). He discussed how he began playing football throughout becoming a walk-on, and what led to Troy’s great past season and his 578 career tackles. He's spent the week in his hometown, Mobile, Alabama for the Senior Bowl, and will look to impress scouts at Troy's March 21st Pro Day.
