Episode 29: The Coach's Journey and Development w/Darren Hansen of Hansen Athletics
On this weeks episode we welcome Darren Hansen, owner, founder, and operator of Hansen Athletics. Darren is a long time athlete who turned his attention towards coaching to help others learn how to move well, develop themselves physically and mentally, and improve both their quality of life and on-field performance! This week we cover how to develop buy-in from athletes and clients, coaching development and education, and what separates top tier coaches from the rest of the industry! Darren believes in the power of human development and as you'll hear, when you have a client in your weight room, you as a coach have the opportunity to not only help them improve the number of pounds on the bar or time off their sprint, but also connect with them as what they are: a human. Coaches are in a unique position to have a daily impact on those that trust them with their training, which begs the question: what kind of impact are you having and can you do more? Listen NOW!

Episode 28: GPP vs Competition w/Dean Leber of Rebel Coaching
This week we welcome Dean Leber of Rebel Coaching! Dean has worked with everyone from CrossFit athletes at the highest level, all the way to people just looking to be healthy and move well. We work our way through one very important question this week: what is the difference between GPP (General Physical Preparedness) and actually training to Compete? What are the major misconceptions surrounding what training to be competitive in sport actually takes? What does it take? Hint: the answer isn't "just do more volume." This is a big one, especially within the functional fitness community. Coaches have a responsibility that goes beyond simply programming. We have to educate, inform, and help people decipher what direction/result they're truly after. How do we dig into an athletes "why"? How do we help them navigate and decide how far they want to go competitively? When someone in a class setting is applying performance pressure on themselves--when all they're after is GPP--how do we walk the tight rope of helping them develop skills they wish to have, while also informing them why those skills won't provide them the most bang for their buck? As it turns out, all of this comes down to a pretty common theme, but one coaches unfortunately miss a lot: Intent.  Listen NOW!
