Case Closed?
I listened to every episode of this podcast. KETR deserves awards for their efforts to get answers for the family. Y’all seemed to follow every possible clue despite the interference by the “investigating” officer. So glad the sister refused to back off or give up. Now, with the help of Adventures With Purpose, the family knows Carey’s fate though not if her death was accidental or murder. RIP Carey and condolences to her family.

Dagnabbit!
I got sucked into this after hearing it mention a few cities I’m super familiar with since I’m from the area…after being sucked in and bingeing this entire series in 2 days, I’m not just twiddling my thumbs and trying to figure out how I can get in on this. I’m not proud, but I’m also not sorry! Keep up the good work! 🖤

Stick with this story
There is a bigger story here beyond Carey's tragic fate, and I hope KETR will close the loop beyond a 2 munite postscript. Even though it does not appear law enforcement personnel had anything to conceal beyond their predecessors' incompetence, the way they dealt with both media and Carey's family revealed that Black Americans are not the only victims of this code of silence. There should be accountability for the failures that kept Carey's family in limbo almost 30 years, and more effort to prevent a repeat. I learned more from how Hunt County staff treated George than any course on TX govt. Essential listen.

For the Family
So far there are things about Carey that don’t impress me. But she was a human being who never got to grow older and wiser and is not able to defend herself. Most of all, her family, her sister, brother, father and kids, even her ex Leonard, all have their stories and points of view that are incredibly moving. What may seem repetitive feels to me like the opportunity of those affected to tell their stories. They are touching and powerful. These are good people who did their best to take care of her children and do right by her. Her kids are heroic. Great podcast!

Awesome
Pretty awesome show, I’m from quinlan and I know the area very well growing up in rolling oaks. This was pretty cool to check out just one of the many mysteries of this small town

Ummmm... What happened?
So it’s good, but oh so unsatisfied because they don’t even put the conclusion on their website! Maybe add the info on where to find the rest of the episodes to the podcasts overview description!! But to leave without ANY SORT OF DIRECTION OR APOLOGY OR ANYTHING.... causes the 5 star rating to drastically be lowered!

Will there be more?
Very interesting story. I live very close to the area, and Texas stories always intrigue me. The telling of it is slow and repetitive, but it seems unfinished. Not unfinished as in I expect it to be solved, but an unfinished production. My hope is that the team is busy solving it, but some sort of update would be appreciated.

I tried
This is just way too long. It’s meandering and repetitive. It just stalls and obsessed over certain issues. Also, I believe the narrator was chewing gum or chomping on a mint or something in one episode. He doesn’t understand that this sensitive sound equipment amplifies everything to an insane degree. There are also plenty of terrible recordings with hard-to-decipher accents. In other podcasts, they have hired actors to recreate the important parts. That should have been done, or even just a summary.

Good read
I was raised in the area . A lot of the people you talked about I knew. I thought you did the story very well and handled it with respect. BYW Todd Langford was arrested a short time ago I saw his picture on EGreenville News of Facebook. Thanks again!

Interesting and intriguing
In about an hour or so away from Hunt County in the local metroplex and was shocked to know about all the missing ppl around Lake Tawonkani. Many of my friends have lake houses either on this lake or others near by and we were all shocked. Great production, interesting episodes, and I love the authenticity of the game research. Must listen.

Love the podcast... it should send at least one clear message...
Great podcast. Being a true crime fan, from the general area and a former news radio broadcaster ~ it’s impressive. If there is any one thing for certain we can take from this podcast it is the complete chaos, destruction and generational effects of drug abuse. This geographical area, and those surrounding it, are literally saturated with meth and a variety of other drugs. While listening to these almost unrealistic stories, you are getting the first hand products of dope infested towns and the sad families left in the path of its destruction. I think small “East Texas” towns like to think they are different from the LA’s and NYC’s of this world, but there is no difference. Generations of death, lies, and corruption. It is just so sad. But, it is refreshing for those accounts of family members, locals and friends that can escape this sad reality. My hope is that with some attention to this story, this family and other families with similar stories in this area, can find answers and peace.

Very good but...
I love this podcast but have one request...please stop editing the conversations that repeat phrases. I am on a bonus episode and have listened to Sara’s mother repeat phrases several times. It seems as if we are listening to a conversation that’s unedited and I’m following along and bang, the speaker is just being replayed from earlier in the same conversation. If this is for ‘filler’ please stop. I’d rather have commercials.

Intellectually Stimulating
This podcast separates it self from other true crime podcast because the reporters and investigators actually are hands on. This is a fantastic podcast and compelling story.I’ve been telling everyone about it and I anxiously await each episode.

Weird
This is just a weird podcast. Sort of intermittent, and no clear what’s the point. The host is not the sharpest knife in the drawer and makes obvious mistakes.

Great podcast
I love this podcast but 6 episodes in 1 year makes it hard to stay attentive to the case. I’ve been following since the beginning and I’m extremely interested in this story. Every time I start a new episode I have to go over the names of the players and how they fit, because I’ve forgotten everything. Love the podcast otherwise.

Finally!

Worth the listen

Great potential!
First off where is episode 4? I got hooked on the first 3. I want to know where the story goes without looking online.

What is going on??
I got hooked, and then the podcast stopped. I’m so disappointed because I really wanted to know more about this case. The bizarre end to this just adds to the conspiracies...

Didn’t even say bye
It just kind of went away after three episodes. Odd.

Another compelling plot
Mysteries are my reading genre of choice, but podcasts? Looking like it. Serial, S-Town, and now Buried. I listen when I run. With Serial I focused on distance. S-Town speed. Buried, is about a Texas town not too far away and it may make me run faster and longer.

Great content and case
But please don't eat/drink when recording; that sound is so distracting. The content is great and the case is interesting. I hope Carey's family can find justice.

Buried brings death to life
Awesome first episode. Reminds me of Bernie meets Serial. It could only happen in Texas. George Hale may be the next great storyteller. I can’t wait to see where this goes.

Great Episode!

This podcast is terrific. Not only does it present a gripping unsolved crime story but, more importantly, gives attention and dignity to a life lost, that family members have been unable and powerless to have addressed. Can't wait for the next episode.

Thank You
I’m an avid true crime podcast listener but to hear one about your home town is chilling. Thank you for bringing attention to a case that needs it, it’s sad that people don’t do the jobs required of them and others lack the decency to do the right thing. I was 3 when she went missing, I have lived in the county my entire life, I know how things “work” in these parts and how there is always loyalty amongst the bad seeds and how “lifestyles” are used to discredit people’s worth and their value as a victim. Very sad! Great job on the production and quality super impressed... reminds me a lot of Payne Lindsey :)
