Sheila Kamuda: The Growth That Can Come From Grief
Sheila Kamuda is a very independent woman. She worked while her husband took care of all the household and childcare details. But when he died, her life stopped. How does one cope with something like this?  Sheila put one foot in front of the other, and reflected about her life ahead. And in doing do, she looked back and within for comfort and guidance. "Once you start to go back to who you are, what are your dreams before you met? What is it tha you wanted to do? Where did you want to live?" And slowly, Sheila pulled her life together and moved forward. This is her story.     What they're saying: “This is a beautiful book about life, its imperfections, its challenges, and its joys. Jacklyn Ryan: Scary Stories from Hiring a Caregiver
Caring for a loved on is a rocky road both financially and emotionally. Add in a hired caregiver, who may or may not pass a background check, and you have a situation that can go haywire quickly. Jacklyn learned this the hard way. In her book, she shares stories about caregiving and reveals an industry that is sloppy in its hiring practices and rife with opportunities to financially take advantage of the very people they’re hired to care for. From first hand experience, she notes that "a common problem with the caregivers is the financial exploitation." “There’s also mental exploitation,” she explains.  Jacklyn’s stories will scare you. And they should. Caregiving situations are something most of us will face and Jacklyn’s experiences and insights might just save you. Her book is called   "Talk with your loved ones before a crisis happens," she warns. And in this podcast she shares some real life stories about the hazards of hiring a caregiver.     What they're saying: “This is a beautiful book about life, its imperfections, its challenges, and its joys. Tina Davidson: The Magic of Music
This is a stunningly beautiful conversation with Tina Davidson, author of Let Your Heart Be Broken.  Tina is an accomplished composer. Over her forty-five-year career, Tina has been commissioned by the National Symphony Orchestra, OperaDelaware, Roanoke Symphony, VocalEssence, Kronos Quartet, Cassatt Quartet, and more.  Contemplating her decades of achievement, Tina notes:   "I am struck by music's linear process, where duration is the great ingredient. Unlike visual art, music cannot be experienced all at once. Instead, it moves through time. As we listen, we construct the hole in our mind through memory, like a transparent ghost. Music moves our hearts and moves our hearts with its lack of tangible substance."   Tina’s story is as astonishing, heart felt and as remarkable as her career. You'll never look at the art of creating music the same way. Come join us.     What they're saying: “This is a beautiful book about life, its imperfections, its challenges, and its joys. Melissa Foote: Where Do Risk and Reward Come Together?
What is a risk to you? For most of us, it’s anything outside our comfort zone. And Melissa Foote stepped right outside those boundaries when she left an 18 year teaching career behind to start her own business. Melissa’s love of teaching had gotten bogged down in many of the group think and administrative aspects of the career. Her last decade of life had been consumed by family, work and school. There was no time left for her. She notes:   "I think as women, we just start our families and then our wholelife evolves around family life and we forget to take care of ourselves. And so ten years went by and I was just on autopilot livng mylife. It was like groundhog day." Visiting a women’s business conference snapped her out of her rut. "I would rather be surrounded by that positive energy that's just so full of life and excietment than living eh next 10-15 years of my life in an environment where everybod's just kind of getting by." That conference made her realize there is so much more, And with that realization, she changed her life.     What they're saying: “This is a beautiful book about life, its imperfections, its challenges, and its joys. It is a book of hope and wisdom for all of us facing a bump in the road.”  –Pragito Dove, author of #1 Amazon best-selling Lunchtime Enlightenment: Expressive Meditations for Manifesting Peace, Prosperity, and Passion   Follow Bump on:

We have our human being who’s trying to understand life.   But even more importantly, we have a spirit that resides within us where there is infinite wisdom, infinite comfort, love and light.” I asked Donna about our emotions. She boiled it all down to the essentials:   “I don’t think emotions are complicated at all. And I don’t think there’s a lot of them. I think there’s two. I think there’s love and fear.”   Join us for a light filled conversation of courage, wisdom and hope from a remarkable woman who has walked the walk to a deeply meaningful life and now leads others on their path.       Follow Bump on:

John Suzuki: American Grit
John Suzuki is a Japanese American who stumbled upon the story of Japanese internment camps during World War II.  It was a story that rattled him. The camps were created when President Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, authorizing the United States Army to round up and detain anyone who was at least 1/16 of Japanese ancestry. The camps were primitive, without running water or insulation. Summer temperatures soared over 100 degrees and winters were bitingly cold. Minidoka was one of these camps. It was at Minidoka that John met the survivors of the camps and discovered a billboard honoring the 1,000 Japanese Americans who volunteered to fight for the U.S. army, the very entity that had detained them in these camps. This discovery sent him on a mission to learn even more.   Follow Bump on:

Christina Kraft: A Doctor Learns To Heal
A Path to Integrative Medicine   This is a story of loss, recovery and finding a new path forward. After years of education and work, Christina Kraft had established a successful dental practice. But her perfect plans for the perfect career were thwarted as nerve pain, bony structures and tissue inflammation meant that she could no longer continue in her beloved dentistry practice. This is what she was meant to do! How could she leave her practice? Where would she go? How would she earn a living? There was no business model for this and even less guidance on a professional level. Who was she if not a doctor? While she mulled over her future, Christina got a job the Miraval Resort in Arizona, teaching yoga and running hikes into the Sonoran mountains. Healing her own mind, body and spirit opened the door to her next step. She enrolled in Andrew Weil’s Center for Integrative Medicine where the curriculum included traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, Ayurveda, mind/body medicine, the role of mindfulness and spirituality and nutrition.  It was a curriculum for medical professionals seeking to make a difference.   “So my plan was to lean into what I love. And what came next started to emerge.”   In an environment that resonated with her own mind/body/spirit experiences, Christina found a path forward. She is now starting a concierge business in integrative health where she can combine her experiences and wisdom in helping others.  She reflects:   “I’m a healer. I’m a health coach.”   And so this phase of her journey is coming full circle, in a new business, with a new orientation, where she continues on a path towards true health.     Follow Bump on:
