Finding Purpose and Identity: A Survivor's Journey
Struggling to make sense of her childhood experiences, she never imagined that her traumatic past would reveal a hidden purpose - to help others going through similar pain. With newfound knowledge and understanding, she embarked on a journey of healing and self-discovery, determined to use her pain to empower and support others. What extraordinary strength and courage will it take to overcome her shadows of the past?

In this episode, I, Tenishia B. Lester, also known as Coach Tee, share my journey of discovering identity and purpose following the trauma of childhood abuse. I discuss the concept of Arrested Development, which relates to one's developmental growth being stunted due to experiencing trauma at a certain age. As a survivor of sexual abuse that started at the age of five and continued for a decade, I personally understand the emotional impact this can have on a person. Writing my book, Arrested Development, was a difficult yet rewarding process, as it allowed me to share my story and help others going through similar experiences. The key takeaway from this episode is that your past does not dictate your future, and you can move beyond trauma to live a fulfilling life by discovering your true identity and purpose.
In this episode, you will be able to:
Uncover strategies for overcoming the grasp of arrested development through trauma healing and personal exploration.
Harness the power of writing as a therapeutic means for confronting and processing difficult past experiences.
Unravel the journey of discovering one's identity and purpose following childhood maltreatment.
Embrace the role of faith and resilience as key elements to personal empowerment and growth.
Establish a nurturing environment where survivors can connect, share stories, and heal in unity.
What is Arrested Development
Arrested Development refers to a stage where a person's developmental growth is hindered due to a traumatic experience they faced during a particular age. This can lead to child-like emotional reactions and coping mechanisms despite being an adult. Recognizing and acknowledging the impact of trauma on one's personal development is crucial for healing and moving forward in life. This understanding provides a foundation for building resilience and redefining one's identity post-trauma. For Tenishia B. Lester, also known as Coach Tee, the term Arrested Development is deeply personal as it represents her own halted emotional development as a result of a traumatic experience. Throughout the episode, she shares her journey and experiences, which include overcoming the challenges the trauma imposed on her emotional growth. Her own story serves as an inspiration for those facing similar obstacles, emphasizing the importance of seeking help and actively working towards healing.

Embrace your identity, purpose, and the possibilities of a happy and productive life, regardless of past experiences.
Be open to sharing your story with others, as your experiences might help someone else going through similar challenges.
