This week is Body Acceptance Week, a new initiative promoting body positivity, body neutrality, and body liberation for all bodies. We know through research that body dissatisfaction is the leading risk factor in the development in an eating disorder
So body acceptable week goes beyond body positivity to be more inclusive.
Three types of body acceptance
🔥 Body Positivity
🔥 Body Neutrality
🔥 Body Liberation
So what can you do
- Block out negative influences and negative images that make you feel bad about yourself
- Follow powerful, inspiring people
- Stop criticizing your body
- Instead - thank your body for all that it provides for you
- Give yourself permission to take up space
- Give yourself kindness and respect - you don’t have to earn it - you deserve it just for existing
- Remember that your worth is not defined by the size of your body or the shape of your body
