Liss Amyah
Married at 19, 6 babies by 31, and divorced by 36… it’s been a pretty wild ride. brave{ish} is all about creating a space for me to speak my truth and tell my story in ways that are sometimes terrifying, but also deeply healing. I rarely feel terribly brave, but most days at least a little brave-ish.
Majella McMahon
This week's podcast guest is Majella McMahon of The Stylery Co. Majella and I met in 2016 when I was asked to speak at an event and had not a fucking clue what to wear because I lived in mum jeans and baggy black tees.... turns out Majella is actually a damn wizard who helps you discover who you are and how to express that visually. Her core business until this year has been styling women 1:1 - if you need to find something to pull off a certain look, you can be sure Majella either knows where it can be found, or she will find it for you. She turned FORTY this year and has done the most spectacularly beautiful transition in terms of her online presence to create space for all the incredible dreams she has moving forward. I LOVE Majella's ability to dream things up, and then make them happen, with all the confidence in the in between that it just will be so. She recently launched her very first online course, providing new ways to work with her that I'm loving seeing pop up all over my social media feeds. I hope you enjoy my chat with Majella, and make sure to check her out all over socials at @thestylerco.

Guyala Bayles
Last month I had Guyala Bayles (@guyala_lala) takeover my Instagram for a day as part of Share the Mic Now Australia and to finish up the day we did an Instagram live. I wanted to share the audio from that here because it was such an incredible conversation. We talked about youth suicide, being able to admit when we're not ok, the importance of culture, connection and community in mental health. Guyala is a 21yr old Birri Gubba and Wonnarua model, actor and poet, signed to Chic management. She is a passionate multidisciplinary artist who speaks openly about her experiences to break the stereotypes around Aboriginality. She uses her experiences, that have impacted her and continue to shape her into the woman she is today to powerfully express herself through spoken word and use her public platform and voice to shed light on issues affecting First Nations people and the injustices of this world. The #ShareTheMicNow social media campaign was created a few months back in the US to magnify Black women and the important work that they're doing in order to catalyse the change that will only come when we truly hear each other's voices. Here in Australia, it is time to hear from Indigenous people - which is where #sharethemicnowaustralia comes in. In the words of @sharethemicnowaustralia "inspired by the #sharethemicnow movement in the US, we brought it here as a tool for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to speak directly to the Nation about real justice issues, about our fight, our culture, our history and importantly our future. All us mob have different things we want to say, but one thing is certain, we need a Mic in order for you to hear our Voice." TW: This audio contains discussion of suicide and self harm.

Quitting Lettering
I've been teaching lettering online since 2016... and decided this week I'm quitting. And have decided that this time, I'm going to share the shit while I'm *in* the shit because endings are complex right?! Relieved and scared, excited and also overwhelmed with the hard shit that comes with winding things up. All the thoughts in this episode, probably went around in circles 100 times, but still believe it's worth sharing our stories even when they're messy and not nicely packaged. Karly
Yes, I'm sticking with the one-word titles, at least for now. And this week I have something very fun for you. I've decided to bring you interviews with some humans who I think are doing braveish things in the world, and my very first guest is my podcasting fairy-godmother Karly Nimmo. Karly has been a huge part of me launching this podcast, stepping into new spaces, and learning to show up and speak my truth - which is something she lives out herself, and also does for a bunch of humans who work with her. She's a very rad human and I'm very excited for you to hear from her. Queer
I've decided that we're going with one word titles from now on (for how long is anyone's guess!), because coming up with titles has been holding me up from showing up here, and I don't want that to continue. So this week, chats on sexuality, attraction, and where that's all sitting for me right now. Come hang with me on Insta @lissamyah

I'm glad *that's* over.
This week kicked me in the butt. Hard. And I'm pretty sure I wasn't alone on that - I heard it all around the place. I thought I'd share a little of my survival strategies for the weeks that I know are going to be a lot. The book I mentioned in the episode was The Secret Language of Your Body by Inna Segal. It's ok not to have it all figured out...
I've been reflecting recently on some of the things that hold me back from speaking my truth, and this idea that I've got to have my shit sorted before I can talk about it is definitely up there. So some thoughts this week on showing up unapologetically you (because yes please, more of that), and on speaking your truth even while you're still working shit out. My "one word" for 2020
This episode was going to be all about my word for 2020, then most of the time was spent talking about my word for 2019. But the bonus is, you get to hear about both! I also mentioned Karly Nimmo, who you can find here : www.karlynimmo.com and my new Braveish Book Club, which you can sign up for here : lissamyah.com/bookclub.

Surrender... and other churchy things.
Some thoughts this week on the whole idea of surrender, unpacking shitty church things, and being ok with not having it all figured out. Come hang with me on Insta @lissamyah
