My Guiding Light
I feel so fortunate to have found Eileen’s podcast as my guiding light to understanding and parenting my 9 yr old son. Her wisdom and Brain First parenting strategies are what I have been seeking to find for years now, as my husband and I have been struggling to navigate the challenges of having a child with cognitive rigidity. I truly feel understood, because everything Eileen talks about is as if she knows EXACTLY the type of kid we have! Her strategies are geared towards helping us parent our kid in ways we didn’t know before. I feel so supported and guided now that I found this podcast. Listen, like it, share it! Parents and their rigid-thinking kiddos can only benefit from Eileen’s knowledge! Thank you Eileen!

Such an immediate help
From the first episode I listened to, this podcast has not only helped me let go of some of my guilt about the very real struggles of parenting a child with ADHD. She had helped me reframe his behaviors and I am currently working on letting go of my hurt at some of the worst things my son has done/said. I can’t tell you how much this podcast has helped, and throughout, Eileen’s compassion, not just for the chicken, but for the very real struggles of the parents, has been a balm to my very often exhausted soul.

Such a great resource to parents in the world!
Eileen’s podcasts are such a fabulous and accessible resource for parents with kids that don’t seem to respond to traditional parenting approaches. Her humanness and lived experience is matched up nicely with her clinical expertise. Wonderfully accessible language, stories, and overall delivery of such helpful information and perspectives. As a family therapist myself, I’m so happy to have her as a resource for parents and families that can feel lost at times supporting their kids with brain based differences. Thank you so much Eileen!

Amazing
I cannot say enough about Eileen-from her calming voice and presence to her knowledge and compassion for the families she works with, she is the BEST. I take away something useful from every single episode to apply to my own child and family.

Finding Eileen was the best thing to happen to me and my daughter. The two of us were going down the road of resentment and anger, not working with each other and fighting to be right. My daughter was in a residential Treatment center because we had reached the point of physical anger and suspicion. The Brain First Parenting concept is magical. I decided to jump in with two feet and am so grateful. I have learned to allow my daughter to be who she is, and support her actively. I have learned to truly listen to her. This concept takes time to take hold, especially if you have a child that is a slow processor. Don’t give up before the shift. I had been desperately looking for resources to guide me before finding Eileen, and am so grateful for the understanding and service that she provides.

Impressive
Some 45 years ago my youngest son was hit by a drunk driver in a pickup. He is lucky to be alive but was left with traumatic brain injury. Over time we saw some eight doctors in five different states and also sent him to two schools that focused on what he was up against. Needless to say we learned a lot, but this series opens a whole new line of thinking that may well be more helpful than all of the other things we have done.

Thank you!
I’m grateful for this podcast as I learn parenting based on the needs of my child, instead of a behavioral perspective. It’s a lonely world with a uniquely different, but precious child.
Uniquely wonderful!

Amazing
Eileen’s lived experience gives me so much confidence in the advice and ideas offered. Hearing from someone who “gets it” is so validating. We have been struggling for months with cognitive inflexibility and I look forward to trying the tips from episode 3. Eileen’s soothing voice is exactly what I need to refresh my nervous system.

A clear, informed and compassionate guide
I was impressed by Eileen’s clear communication, expertise on child and young adult brain development, and compassion for all those in families with children who have brain differences. Her perspective as a parent and clinician regarding common social norms versus what is truly helpful for children with brain differences was eye opening!

Brain First Parenting with Eileen Devine
This Podcast helps me understand more clearly the children who have brain differences as they react to various situations. Eileen does a great job in presenting the idea of considering the brain first as opposed to behavior.

Such a great podcast!
As a therapist and parent to children with brain based differences, this is the podcast I have been waiting for! It feels so good to know that the host has lived this life as well. She’s not just talking about it from, an academic standpoint, but she knows what it’s like to be in a home like mine day in and day out.

Great for teachers
I’m not a parent, but I have always looked to Eileen’s blogs to help me understand my students—and this podcast is such a great addition to her resources. I listened to the third episode on my way to work yesterday and thought of it multiple times throughout the day as I interacted with students. Thank you, Eileen!
