Yay!
I grew up in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and I live here still to this day. On the eve of my 56th birthday, I saw that the Doylestown Bookshop was starting a podcast. My history with books is a love affair. Growing up, we had Kenny’s bookstore right in the center of town. It had everything a person could want from books, the magazines, the newspapers, tickets for rock concert to the spectrum, and of course the penny candy. Sometime in my early 20s I believe, Kenny’s Bookshop closed, and I became a frequent user of the library. Then, the Doylestown Bookshop opened and I got to meet the owner Glenda. She works so hard to integrate the shop into the town that I became a big fan. I’m an English teacher, and my students wanted to buy the books that we were reading in class so they could annotate, Glenda was always willing to buy bulk and work with the school. Now that there are new owners, I see that they are trying very hard to keep the book shop up-to-date with events, guest speakers, and now podcast. I can’t wait, and I hope that they make use of all the interesting personalities in town and really relax and have fun.
