Thank you so much for your interview with VE Schwab. It is so interesting hearing about her struggle with anxiety and how it affects her writing process. I learned so much and appreciate the conversation about the writing process happening between two writers. She is so down to earth, would love to hang out with her- glad you got the chance! I really enjoy the book reviews, chats and interviews. Keep up the great work.

I was introduced to this podcast via booksaresick. Fair to say I was instantly hooked. So much so, that I’ve gone back to the first episodes with Evan and Chad and slowly working my way through them all. They are so easy to listen to and it’s just a fun time. Big fan of the Friday Forge episodes. If you’re a fan of the genre, I can’t recommend this enough.

These guys are brilliant. I listened to their long, funny, intelligent, detailed analysis of the expanse book series. I loved it. Highly recommend.

Can’t say enough good things about this podcast. I’ve been listening for over a year now, and I owe it to Chad and Evan for getting me back into reading after a long hiatus. I have a long commute Monday mornings and always look forward to the Monday morning minute to get my week started off with what feels like two close friends.

I love listening to Evan and Chad talk books and enjoying each other. Glad I found my way here. I feel like I’m hanging out with them while I listen. I especially appreciate how they find value even in books that don’t love. My only problem is that I can’t keep up with all the books they recommend!

If you’re looking for a fun & interesting podcast on books, especially (but not limited to) for fantasy & science fiction, try this one. I’ve gotten so many good book recommendations from here & enjoy the enthusiasm they have about reading. They seems like the type of guys you want to go grab a drink with and spend all night talking about books.

These guys. I spend every Monday morning with these guys before setting up my classroom and they help get me excited for reading, every day. I set a goal to read more this year, and this podcast has been my biggest support. Because of their recommendations and passion for books, I have read over 45 books this year, already. Although the podcast centers around science fiction/fantasy books, their knowledge of authors and books from all genres cannot be dismissed. They have a love for books that is contagious and makes you want to love reading. Chad and Evan give off a vibe that makes you feel comfortable and a part of the conversation. I look forward to their new podcast every Monday, and it will continue to be a part of my Monday and Friday routines.

After listening to these guys religiously for almost a year, I figured I should leave a review. Book Reviews Kill is one of my favorites. If you’re like books, fantasy, scifi, or even just nerding out, this is the podcast for you. Evan and Chad are so genuine and warm that you’ll feel like you know them in real life, and then instantly regret that you aren’t, in fact, friends with them in real life. They have lots of great segments, like interviews with authors & agents, Friday Forge (where they discuss topics brought up from their discord), and discussion episodes covering the books they planned to read for the podcast. A quick note on the book discussion episodes: although Chad and Evan are friends, they are different enough as readers that their conversations are interesting. They do a great job of analyzing and critiquing even their favorite reads. They don’t shy away from heavy topics as they arise, but they are also hilarious and joy to listen to. Their discussions are engaging while remaining well-balanced in media literacy, which has unfortunately made it difficult for me to enjoy many other book review podcasts/panels. Monday Morning Minutes are my favorite episodes, in which they chat about their weeks, the books/ media they consumed, and share fictional fun facts and news. My description doesn’t do this segment justice because it’s their personalities that really bring the episodes to life. They are funny and authentic, and it is easy to see that their great chemistry stems from a true friendship. All in all, I love book reviews kill, I love the hosts Chad and Evan, and I think readers and fans of SFF should give this podcast a shot. I know everyone’s taste and preferences differ, but I vibe with them, and that’s enough for me. (Thanks for the content guys!)

I thoroughly believe that Evan and Chad are 2 of the good ones. Hearing them ramble on about books and seeing things in them that aren’t obvious is a great way to spend your time. I know that they recently added Effy to some episodes, which is great. That’s the only reason I’m giving 4.25 instead of 5…I needed just a little bit more of a woman’s voice every once in awhile. I’m hoping they keep that up when talking about women written series that are geared more for women. Great podcast!

My favorite podcast to listen to while I’m driving or cleaning. I especially love the Monday morning episodes- it’s a nice balance of books, movies, and random off topic subjects which I enjoy just as much!! <3

I look forward to new episodes and I actually use them as motivation to get cleaning done around the house. It feels like I’m hanging out with a couple of friends, discovering new books and being productive all at the same time. Evan and Chad are amazing at what they do and I’m so thankful for this podcast. I would give this podcast 10 stars if I could!

Listening to an episode of Book Reviews Kill feels like I’m just hanging out at the local Starbucks with Evan and Chad, talking books, shows, video games, and overall just nerding out. The amount of times I’ve tried to chime in on part of the conversation while listening is unreal, and I’m thoroughly convinced you won’t find a nicer and more welcoming Discord community anywhere on the internet. I’m in my early 40’s and have finally found my people! Thank you guys for the show and the vibes; you truly make my week every week.

Found Evan and Chad in the summer of ‘22, probably via tik tok. It was one of the most difficult times in my adult like to date. The conversations they have about books are what I wish I was discussing with friends in HS and while getting my English degree. Listening to them helped me through some of those dark commutes. They have reignited my love of sci-fi/fantasy and directed me to new authors. Chad even offered an insight into the Dark Tower Series that finally let me put that long and deep seeded irritation to rest. Literally following along with a (and only one at a time) series. I never miss weekly episodes. Glad there are a ton of books for them to mow through. I mean how do they read so much so fast?

I love this show and can’t wait for the new ones as they come out! I love the new episodes “The Tale” and am telling all my book friends about this Podcast.

I stumbled across Evan on Tiktok and immediately liked the style of his content and the way he presented his content. After many hours of watching his content there I delved deeper and found a link to this podcast. I jumped into the most recent Monday morning minute and have been hooked ever since. The camaraderie between Evan and Chad is wholesome and very entertaining. They are informative and very thoughtful in their reviews (even with so many rabbit holes being searched haha). This is the only non scripted podcast I listen to and absolutely enjoy every minute of it. Thank you both, Evan and Chad!

I listen to this every single week and am currently reading Red Rising with Chad, Evan and Effy (sp?). This is such an uplifting part of my week and it really inspires me to read more regularly — since I started listening about 6 months ago, I have successfully read every day, which is awesome! Love the positivity, the kindness and the bright light this podcast exudes.

Love these two dudes! Been a loyal listener since episode 8. I feel like this is an engaging podcast that never gets boring. Evan and Chad consume so much stuff and put out so much good content you will never get bored and will always have something to listen to. And don’t forget you can also follow them on various soical media platforms. Wish I lived closer to the Portland area so I could treat them to dinner at Casa Diablo (if you know, you know) then hit up some used bookstores and microbrews.

I have to admit, when I first stumbled across this podcast I wasn’t quite sure what to think. But week after week, episode after episode, I just wanted to keep listening. I enjoy your honest and thoughtful reviews of all things fantasy, horror, and sci-fi. As a reading teacher, I can only hope to inspire my students to have as much passion about books as you both have. There were many times this school year that I referenced your book recommendations or reviews to my students and they wanted to pick up a book. I found book reviews kill through Evan when I was on TikTok. I am no longer on tik tok but still have the show every Monday and Friday. I am a slow reader so I don’t necessarily listen to the book episodes. I just find both your voices relaxing. I follow both of you on instagram and have messaged Evan a lot. After getting back into reading 2 years ago and falling headfirst into the fantasy genre this has quickly become my favorite podcast. I find myself every week looking forward to the Monday morning minute and Friday forge and absolutely love the reviews. Y’all are some of the most fun people to listen to talk about books.

My introduction to book reviews kill was probably through some Instagram reels where this slightly disheveled guy was talking about books. I enjoyed his takes enough to check out his podcast which led to their discord community and now it’s part of my life. Evan and Chad are genuine and engaging and their love of books and the whole speculative fiction genre is infectious. In a good way. Not like a venereal disease.

I look forward to this all week. Really the only podcast that consistently interrupts me listening to audiobooks. This is the kind of analysis and insight that I personally crave. Great community and awesome hosts.

A couple of good dudes relaxing, talking books, videogames, shows, media etc. consistent and varying content that makes you want to be in the room with the guys to put in your own two cents, especially on writing and book recommendations.

As a long time fantasy and sf fan, this podcast has now become my most favorite. These two dudes pour their heart into what they do and you can feel the love for fantasy-sci-fi and horror. They love their fans and are great community builders. Great humor and knowledge. My favorite parts are when they discover and learn new things. They are genuine and want theirs fans and the genre fiction lovers to feel the things they feel. They have opened up some new worlds for me and I appreciate them for it! Thanks good dudes!

Love this podcast! Wanted some virtual companions while I was reading the expanse and tried this one. Hopefully the do the Witcher books at some point since that will be my next read!

This podcast has opened the sci-fi genre up to our local book club. I enjoy listening to the rabbit holes Evan and Chad go down and am constantly writing down more books to add to my TBR. All Systems Red by Martha Wells is on our list for this year.

I feel like I am currently using this podcast to regulate my nervous system! They are part of my weekly ritual as I get ready for work on a Monday or look for some new books to read, not that I need any more actually. I find their reviews thoughtful and fun. I love their banter and positive relationship with each other as well. Its just like warm fuzzy stuff (though some books are creepy/gross and they warn you) with two people who clearly love books and each other. So wonderful!

“Criminally delightful” would be the ideal term to describe this show. Insightful hosts with a plethora of knowledge, charming critiques of novels and pop culture staples alike, and a wide array of tangential thoughts to get one through the day. The only critique one could have is that it doesn’t go on long enough.

Despite reading all day every day, I haven’t been much of a book podcast listener but this is a real treat. Fresh ideas and perspectives, solid theories and discussions. I’m all for it.

When Chad told me he was going to start a podcast with his buddy Evan, I thought, “Cool, I might listen sometime if I have time.” But when I saw the podcast shooting to the top of the Spotify charts in the first month, I knew they must have a good thing going, so I aspired to lend an ear. As a fellow nerd, fantasy lover, and writer myself, I quickly began devouring episodes, one after another on my commutes to work, during running errands, etc. I simply could not get enough! Evan and Chad each bring unique experiences of the fantasy genre to the table that both compliment, and build upon one another like a smorgasbord of hero’s journeys, villainous rivalries, and tantalizing reviews. I particularly enjoyed reminiscing down memory lane to the tune of The Hobbit (my introduction to the extraordinary genre of fantasy), and the Redwall series in “The Books That Made Us” episode. Whether you are a fantasy virgin or aficionado, it makes little difference. Drop whatever you’re doing (within reason; please don’t drop a child), and tune into this incredible podcast you didn’t know you needed in your life. As the title suggests, and to quote renowned martial artist and ‘Forged in Fire’ judge, Doug Marcaida, “It will kill!”
