Who broke Bone Valley 😭
The most recent season is unlistenable. This used to be one of the few true crime podcasts that had an investigative integrity & authenticity you only get as a host/narrator who is deeply involved in investigating the case. This is now a podcast with no heart, like almost every other true crime podcast out there. Sadly unsubscribing

Season 5
I am so disappointed in season 5. I fear journalistic integrity is at stake here if the records are not able to be scrutinized by others.

Subscribers only
Sucks to get through half a season only to be promoted to purchase yet another subscription from another network. Would gladly just pay an upfront $ for the season. Just seems like bait to make half the season available and paywall the rest. Needless to say I won’t be purchasing or listening.

PHENOMENAL!!
You will absolutely, unequivocally love this pod. Amazing. Gilbert is a master. These people are incredibly relatable and their stories will make you angry beyond comparison, but also make you smile and cry with them as you cheer them on. Again, phenomenal

Wonderful storytelling
I always love bone valley. As someone who has probably listened to mostly every true crime podcast good & bad, this one always sets my bar high! Love it and can’t wait for another season.

Stories are good, Podcaster makes it too much about him
I wish there was more investigation and not so much about the investigator. Podcast hosts think they are the interesting part of it.

Season 2 leaves me speechless!
I literally don’t have words to convey how disturbed I am by the conduct of the police misconduct in this podcast. Everyone should be absolutely terrified! This podcast is riveting, and in some ways redeeming…all the emotions! Very well done. My condolences to all of the victims of this tragic story.

Exceptional
Paul is a fantastic investigative journalist, this case is unbelievable. I’m in a rage about what happened here. Love, love, love Paul’s narration.

Stunning
Season 5 is clearly the best podcast I’ve ever listened to. Paul’s storytelling is second to none. I had to subscribe so I could listen to it all nonstop. What a story…wow.

Bone Valley was my favorite pod cast until they went to subscription only! I refuse. I’ll just Google the case.

One of the best true crime podcasts out there
Every single story is gripping and heartbreaking. Just listened to Season 5 and once again. The most thoroughly researched podcast. Looking forward to more seasons and hopefully it having to wait so long

WHY?
Why am I hearing commercials when I have an iHeart subscription?

Seasons 1 and 2
are incredible. I warmed to it slowly because I have mixed feelings about murder media, but I think these two seasons do the best work that murder reporting can do.

Season 5 ouch
Cannot listen to Paul. Horribly boring voice.

#1 Favorite Podcaster in True Crime
Totally on point, very professional, very empathetic. He’s an authentic journalist who is a master at entertainment. Some hosts get lost in their material, forgetting what listeners would find entertaining. Bone Valley cuts to the bone to dig out your own beliefs, to make you question your own level of compassion & empathy. BV allowed me to look at myself as a person who can separate my own authentic levels of compassion n empathy from the part of myself who is an ex-abused woman, a survivor of personality disorder abuse. I want to hate Jeremy Scott but in the end, despite knowing his sociopathic manipulations & that he only contributes to King’s search for answers bec of what he knows he can get in return — despite all that I know w/ my own history of loving a sociopath, I cannot help but have compassion for Scott. I was going to write him…until I learned of his death in 2025. It is King who pulled these emotions out of me through his own empathic nature and drive for the truth. A truly excellent, excellent podcast. I didn’t even mention Leo and how special getting to know him was in season one. I feel a little bad for how much attention we give Jeremy Scott in season two but the fact that Leo Schofield is so kind and also empathetic and compassionate, it just adds to the family vibe that this podcast pulls you into. Thank you Mr. King for making this podcast. You are brilliant and one of a kind. PS I’m only mid-season 2!! You wouldn’t even believe how excited I was when I realized there were multiple seasons in this podcast! šŸŽ‰šŸ„³

Season 4 AI Voice
Season 1 and 3 were good, I can’t listen to season 4. They are using an AI/automated voice over that has a repeated cadence over and over. Can’t stand it, wish they would have a real human narrator

Breath and depth
The precision of information and great presentation are mind blowing … I think that the Kelsey/King team is wonderful… whatever the hard hitting prize winning writer can’t get, the sweet young a bit nervous girl can…

Race obsession
Why do you randomly, annoyingly give people’s race when it has no bearing and you never reference it again? ā€œJoe Smith, a black man, worked at the hotelā€¦ā€

Inconsistent
Wow I’m confused. I listened to this podcast and another podcast in the same case, My Mothers Lies, and there are so many journalistic inconsistencies that seem easy to verify. Vaneesha Stubblefield is IDed at Jessica’s cousin in one of the podcasts and as her boyfriend’s cousin in the other. Tamara Victoria Caldwell is IDed in one podcast as one person and as two separate people in the other. How is it possible for journalists to make theses mistakes?!? Don’t know which is correct but now I don’t trust the integrity of either podcast….

Leo and Michelle
The podcast re Leo was too long and wordy. The same info was reiterated over and over - and nothing changed. Leo never got justice and Jeremy’s confession was ignored. After 10 hours, I expected a happy ending. This could’ve been much shorter. Very disappointing.

Kelsey sucks!
Good podcast though

Could not stop listening
This was a great listen and I hope more people hear this podcast and that he gets a new trial soon and many blessings to his family

Obsessed
I couldn’t stop listening to this.. it breaks my heart how the system has handled this case. My hope and prayer is this podcast will help bring justice! I’m in awe of Leo and the way he has clung to his faith.

Incredible podcast
Don’t miss this podcast. Compelling and important.

Excellent visibility to criminal justice injustices
This is well-produced and tells such compelling stories bringing some light to the injustices in our system. Tragic.

Season 4 is 2 years old
Using a 2+ year-old podcast as season 4 tells me that ad revenue is more important than producing new content at Lava for Good Podcasts. Shame to sully a previously reliable show like Bone Valley.

Great pod
Im on season 4 and its a great story, important and well told. But please stop with the full length bad songs on each episode, it’s happened every season and a disruption to the flow as I’m listening during my day.

Lose the horrible song
If I have to listen to that song at the beginning of each podcast, one more time, my head will explode. It is so so so so so so bad.

My Favorite, Captivating
This might be my favorite podcast so far. A story so well-worth telling and so well told. Thank you everyone who lent their testimony to this.

Season 3
Seriously…I can’t even concentrate on this case listening to the host Praise the alleged criminals for having multiple kids with no fathers & Falling in Love after meeting in jail!! GIVE ME A BREAK PLEASE….. Just tell the story, WITHOUT your ridiculous views on multiple partners and children with no fathers as if it’s a beautiful romantic lifestyle! SMFHā€¦šŸ¤ÆšŸ¤Æ

Maggie Freleng never disappoints
Compelling and well researched with tons of interviews with residents familiar with the crime. Maggie Freleng has a Pulitzer Prize for a reason and she continues to demonstrate why. Highly recommend

Season 1 and 2 super!
Storytelling was great. The ghastly system that Gilbert unveils made me want him to investigate the Florida system…not just the singular unjust case! Couldn’t stop listening to seasons 1 and2. Season 3 was a departure from the style and storytelling. Didn’t finish it.

Podcasting at its best
Bone Valley is a breathtaking series that will keep you riveted and change how you see our criminal incarceration system
Farmer Dave Tampa
Story telling at its best
It’s not an easy thing to admit that the system is rigged for innocent people behind bars. That prosecutors have this much power to manipulate evidence (or ignore it) and watch a man’s life ebb away. I wish someone in the innocence project would look into this case and free the right man.
Rembranto
I’ve lost all respect for DAs.
Honestly, at times it was hard to listen to what evil the state prosecutors did and then continued to do to this day. It was just so infuriating. Gilbert does an excellent job gathering and presenting the facts of the case. He did such an excellent job telling the story, I even felt empathy for the real killer. How anyone kept composure and didn’t start screaming at the prosecutors through all the hearings is beyond me. There should’ve been protests.

My favorite podcast, very good reporting & easy to follow along. Gilbert King & Kelsey Decker are good reporters to get the truth. Starting season 2 now. If you are on the fence about listening to it just do it! You’ll be hooked by the first episode.

Season 2
Season 2 was amazing. The Meri lady that reached out…what a beautiful humane thing to do. Leo’s forgiveness beautiful. It all made me cry and smile at the same time.

Season 3 episode 5
Just started listening to this Season series on 11/30/2025. Curiosity got the better of me. Went to google. Searched and found an article printed online 11/27/2025-Thanksgiving Day. This is what Vinisha Stubblefield suffers from and said recently in court: Stubblefield, who said she suffers from multiple mental health and intellectual processing disorders including ADHD, manic bipolar disorder and a comprehension disorder, among others, was repeatedly questioned by Cross’s attorneys and the state prosecution regarding her memories of the events surrounding Currin’s death and the subsequent investigation.

Agenda
Disappointed in the host approach. Blaming a citizen vs the authorities for a trial decision was a very odd view. Not the podcast for me! There are many better podcasts.

Transformative
Rarely would I describe a podcast as transformative. This fits the bill. Gilbert and Kelsey’s teamwork, process, and relationship with Leo unfold as you listen. Empathy and compassion are what we need more of in the world. Season 3 didn’t really do it for me story wise or narrator wise. I hope Gilbert and Kelsey will come back for season 4 with another compelling tale. I’ve now started reading Gilbert’s books and recommend those as well. Impressive stuff.

Wow. Season 2 is when the podcast transcends
Wow. Season 2 is when the podcast becomes about more than innocence and guilt. It really transcends all of that to be about family, redemption, connection, what it means to be human.
Yuckful yucks
Seasons 1&2 excellent reporting
I just finished seasons 1&2. Excellent reporting about Michelle and Leo Schofield. I cannot believe you made me emphasize with a murderer but you did. I hope Jeremy was able to see his son. I used to think people were weird for writing to prisoners they don’t know, I totally understand it now and I’m glad Jeremy had that woman in his life for a little bit.

Moving, human and inspiring
Couldn’t stop listening to this podcast. Every character, no matter how flawed, becomes real and human. Kindness and pain mix together to make an intoxicating narrative. Bravo!

Letdown
I was initially blown away by this podcast - I still find it impressive, riveting, with excellent editing. However, anything assocated these days with iHeart has far too many commercials. Five-ten minutes of podcast and then about five minutes of commercials. I get it, I can fast forward, etc. etc. but I listen to podcasts when I'm doing something else, which means it becomes incredibly frustrating to constantly stop to get to the next segment. There are so many podcasts out there these days that if I subscribed to every one that I like I would have no money for anything else. For this reason, I've also unsubscribed from every other Lava for Good podcast and everything that is iHeart. That doesn't have to do with *this* particular podcast specifically because I did finish and it is excellent. I just can't be bothered with this corporation any longer.

Good podcast
But hearing Darra say she loves Trump gave me the ick. Maybe edit that out.

Not worth your time
One of those podcasts that has a story to tell and contorts the facts to fit it. Competent audio quality but substantively lacking. I concur with the review criticizing the podcasters' tendency to highlight their own role in said story.

Amazing
Wow I’m so impressed. It was expertly done alright. Mr King you have magic for writing and your voice is just perfect. What a story and glad you could be the one to narrate thank you.

Season 3 let down
Season 1&2 was so moving - it even compelled me to sign petition. Season 3 - while moving and heart wrenching story…the subtle music/soundtrack and editing is beyond biased. Playing music like it’s the time of slavery in the South is misleading and so typical of northern liberal mindset that anything in that happens in the South is all because of sins of the past. This was the 90’s…not even the 60’s. Sometimes unfortunate, horrific crimes happen. Police screw up and biases are real along with the clear media biases of the woman and journalists at the center. Just report the facts and stop with the leading soundtrack.

Bone Valley
Best podcast I’ve listened to, EVER! At times it moved me to tears. Expertly done, great narration, and painted a complete picture. Hope hope, hope, this gets turned into a Netflix documentary; exactly as it’s done in the podcast, word for word. Not reimagined, but with the interviews as they’re done in the podcast as to put a face and image to the cast of characters. Also, the song is awesome, catchy and I caught myself singing along during the intro.
