Eye Opening
His story is my story. Growing up in the church and being attracted to men was (and still is) such a difficult place to navigate. Hearing Brett’s story gives me hope and helps me see I’m not alone.

Outstanding. So worth a listen. Brett is a wonderful story teller. He gives perspective on a very misunderstood topic. He’s helped open my heart. Thank you, Brett Trapp for your vulnerability and your ability to transform a simple conservative mom from Texas.

Wonderful
Growing up evangelical, I had certain opinions that were not based on any sort of experience, but rather what I had been told. My understanding of God’s big love for everyone has changed and broadened so much over time, but I understand others still holding those views. This podcast is perfect for pointing people in the direction of seeing the issue from a personal perspective.

Thank you for sharing your story
I think Brett’s experience and story is so important for the Christian who is on the fence about fully supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Brett, your relationship with Jesus is beautiful and refreshing. Thank you for not letting society and the lack of acceptance of gay people in the Christian world push you away from His love. I am so happy you have found a partner to love and be loved by! I only hope that your story will continue to help pave the way for Christians to open their hearts to ALL God’s people and embrace them with open arms so that young people now do not have to walk a lonely path as long as you did. Gave four stars instead of five only because some of the story telling felt a little too full of adjectives.

Thank you
As a parent of a guy child I thank you for putting into words the difficult path it takes to come out. I LOVE my kid and I suffer just thinking how hard it has been for him. Much love and respect. Keep up the good work.

Amazing!
This podcast has been so helpful on my path to be an affirming Christ follower. Thankful for BT sharing his story.

So helpful!
I am a pastor trying to help our congregation go from welcoming to affirming. This testimony will be so helpful in helping others understand that we all deserve love, and God loves us all! So well done!

Insightful Podcast
This is the most insightful & educational podcast on the subject of LBGTQ. I’m on a journey with a grandchild whose 11 years old. My sweet Jayden has opened my eyes to see that love is more than words and gifts. Accepting the journey and embracing the fact that God created gay, transgender people the same as God made straight people has helped me turn a much needed corner. Brett, your candid explanation of how you maneuvered life as a gay Christian man and the stress your silence created is exceptional. I listened from beginning to end in a few days. Thank you for sharing your experiences openly and honestly with a 62 year old grandma “Nonna.”

Wow
I can't tell you how much the story meant to me. Especially being a former evangelical Christian. I still am an avid Jesus follower. But I am trying to break the chains of legalism. The way the piece presents itself it makes it so easy to understand and to have empathy for the saying, that my family members having just recently coming out to certain people. I'm very thankful for Brett Trapp and how he's documented his journey. It's beautiful and everyone should read in my humble opinion!!

Brett Rocked it!
As a mom of a gay son in his early 20’s (who came out to us 16 months ago), Brett’s story was touching. It provided great insight to our son’s story during his reveal. This podcast is highly recommended for all. I’m thankful that Brett shared his honest experience.

Goodness gracious
Beautifully raw and honest. As a southern millennial Christian I too grew up listening to the same music and with the same-ish culture. This was so refreshing and real to listen to an account of someone wrestling with their identity in that culture. Also, BT is a phenomenal writer… so listening to that was a total joy.

Really enjoyed this story
Heard your interview with Jen Hatmaker YEARS ago, but just now listened. Thank you for sharing your story so honestly. Totally binged the whole thing in 2-3 days. I desperately want my kids to be able to love everyone they meet and know that we love whoever they love. This has given me some good things to think about.

Binged on this!!!
Wow! I totally binged on listening to BBP. I have learned so much. I am a straight woman of 66 years who follows and loves Jesus . I plan on sharing this a lot. Many Christians from my generation are still stuck. Praying this podcast will help “unstick” them in some painful theology that they haven’t questioned. Thank you! And bless you!

Enlightening and Needed
As a straight Christian, this podcast has been huge in my journey of educating myself on the LGBT+ community. I cried and laughed and was sucked in by B.T.s dynamic story telling. Your story is powerful, compassionate and so needed: thank you B.T.! *Now do an epilogue on how you met your husband!!

Absolutely astonishing
Raised in a conservative Christian home, I am the mama to two queer children who is since become a progressive LGBT+ affirming Christian At one point in the podcast, I was taking notes. I cried, I laughed and I didn’t want it to end. Thank you so much for sharing your heart, your struggles and the intimate details. Many things really helped me to process what I’ve seen from my two queer children. This kind of podcast can help change the Conservative Christian culture that squeezes the life out of many. God bless you!

This is so Important
I was raised in a conservative Baptist home and had to leave when I reached adulthood. I left because the people I met and the experiences I had in “The World” were beautiful- not sinful and sad and wrong on everything like I had been taught they would be. I think if everyone listened to the personal experiences of others, the world would be better, and I think this podcast is an important step in that direction. Thank you for it.

Everyone should listen to this
I grew up in a conservative Christian church, and I still hold to a pretty conservative view of sexuality and marriage. But it’s time for for all of us in the white conservative majority to shut up and sit down and start listening to real people and their very real stories.

Simply, a treasure
B. T., you are a national treasure. A treasure for Atlanta, the South, America, and dare I say, the world. Thank you for telling your story.

Insightful /very well written
From a 67 y/o twice divorced female who resonates with the struggle of loneliness. I have learned from your story. Thank you for letting us feel your deep emotion. The great detail of your everyday , your courage , your faith , your pain and for you to continue in faith is a great day in our suffering world. My perspective on “ life /love and happiness “ is forever changed / better.

It’s Never Too Late to Accept God’s Invitation to Leave the Closet
This is the second time I’ve listened to this series. It is anointed. The lifetime of prayers by his friends and family have been answered in ways they never expected. BT has given many of us the courage to live openly, honestly and respectfully before God and society. We, too, can be fully blessed by God, Who created us uniquely. Having grown up in a mega church that believes in “conversion therapy”. I married and have an adult child. Now divorced, I came out much later in life. This message arrived at just the right time to encourage me to stay the course. I’m so very grateful for it. And so are the many people I have recommended it to.

This is a Must Listen
If I had it my way this would be required listening for every Christian (and really all other humans). BT’s story is heartbreaking and beautiful and hopeful and I’m thankful for the opportunity to learn from it.

Best for those coming from a conservative background
I would give the storytelling 5 stars, but some of his experiences and beliefs could be traumatic for those who haven’t been exposed to the conservative views of homosexuality. If you don’t come from that background, I would avoid this story to not traumatize yourself. That said, I DO come from that background and although I am heterosexual, learned so much from this story sure about homosexuality but also just about life. Thank you for sharing your story!

Courageous and needed
Thank you so much for sharing your journey Brett! I so resonate with being a “card carrying holder of both groups” with a desire to honor and respect both sides as well. My partner and I are so inspired by your courage to share your deeply personal and needed story with the world! Can’t wait to hear the rest of your journey...keep it coming!!! Thank you
I have tears streaming down my face...again. It’s happened a few times while listening to BT’s story. No one can argue with a story and the power of telling a story is immeasurable. I have so much to learn. So much to consider. I felt the love of Jesus seep through every word. Thank you for telling your story with vulnerability and candor. I will be recommending this to so many people in my circles.

So helpful
I’m late to this, but I am so thankful to BT for his courage and kindness to those of us who are different than him. This story is kind of “boy next door” but totally fascinating and heartbreaking at the same time. It gave me such compassion and understanding of people in my life and for that I am so grateful. He managed to tell a difficult story with such grace and hope. I highly recommend this podcast.

Amazing Story
I binged BBP immediately after binging Catlick. I loved both podcasts but BBP really shines a light on BT’s talent as a story teller. This is a challenging and beautiful journey expertly shared. Thank you for gifting your story to the world, BT. I look forward to your next project!

Love is love
This is one of those life changing stories you read (hear) and want to turn around and share with every single person you love. BT is a phenomenal story teller. I sobbed alongside him when he spoke of his father in episode 11. Episode 28 reminded me of how important it is to be a “Perm” to your friends, many tears there too. But there’s so much grace and joy too! If nothing else, this series evokes empathy and compassion for this articulate and kind man that just wanted to be like everyone else. We all just want to be SEEN and loved. This podcast reminded me how incredibly fortunate it is to be. Thank you for sharing your story, BT.

Just finished the whole thing
Captivating storytelling and necessary voice from beginning to end. Really illuminating for me as someone very naive on the subject. I really appreciate the honesty and transparency and the invitation to be a part of BT’s journey. My life is better for having listened. I am becoming better.

Brave, tender, and beautiful!
Such an amazing account of a life lived faithfully and ultimately led into fullness by LOVE itself! Thank you for this as an ally and a mental health professional - I know these insights will be influencing my faith, work, friendships, and church leadership for many years to come.

Blue Babies Pink
A friend recommended this podcast and I went in blind... no clue what it was about. First, fell in love with Brett’s storytelling. Second, fell in love with Brett’a story. A career single, straight gal, yet many of his trials and tribulations were like my own. Blue Babies Pink is at times gut wrenching, but if you hang on, and work through, you’ll find it’s cathartic and life changing.

Moving and uplifting

A MUST listen for any struggling parents
Brett’s story was recommended to me after struggling to share with my conservative family that my daughter is gay. My husband and I knew long before she did, but that still could not have prepared me for the hurtful, HATEFUL thing that so-called “loving” family members would say. I knew in my heart that being gay has nothing to do with sex yet so many are misinformed and frankly ignorant. I am grateful to Brett for sharing his story. I hung onto every word and am happy to learn that he is living a wonderful life as a gay man and still loves God.

Thank you!
Thank you, BT, for sharing your story in such a gracious, vulnerable and instructive way. This was a glimpse behind the curtain that the Evangelical community desperately needs to embrace. Few things are more powerful than the stories and experiences of those living in marginalized communities to break down the myths and misunderstanding and assumptions held by those of us living outside those experiences. Thank you for gently leading us. I have learned so much about how to love better, not only LGBT people, but single people as well.

Compelling, but...
I couldn’t stop listening to this series. I just wish the theology had been addressed at the end. I know BT says this podcast isn’t the place for the theology, it’s about his journey... but that rings insincere & incomplete when SO MUCH of his story & conflict was specifically about the theology. He struggles in turmoil for 43 episodes, in conflict with his lifelong theology, and then... what? He stops believing? He reconciles it somehow? He finds a new interpretation of Scripture? He just doesn’t address it at all!! How did his mom react? His friends? He spends ages describing his feelings & his loved ones’ reactions to being gay & celibate, but once he decides not to be celibate... the end. It seemed like the story ended at the most crucial point.

An incredible gift!
Wonderful podcast with episodes that offer honesty, humor, insight and inspiration. I am better equipped to support and advocate for our gay daughter as a result of your courage in sharing your story, Brett. Thank you!

Dead on.
There is so much about Brett’s story that hits close to home for me as the gay daughter of a southern baptist deacon. Thank you for sharing your heart, Brett. I am so glad you are able to see how worthy you are and how much you deserve to have someone special to share this life with. God makes no mistakes and He made you exactly how He meant for you to be.

Ok..
I’m 42. Smack dab in the middle of coming to peace with the reality of who/what I am. I’m exhausted trying to reconcile my beliefs to my feelings/desires. Today, something hit me .. a friend recommended this podcast. I’m not a good listener, as I am the talker. I’ve listened non stop all day. I’m not listening, I’m hearing. Jesus our this on my heart. My weight is beginning to lift as I hear this dude speak his story. There’s no self help, counseling, book that has made me stop and hear, util this podcast. I’m a new man today and I’ve only been able to hear 25 podcasts. Thank you Jesus and thank you to this guy .. lifesaver. I’m tired of suffering. I’m encouraged. Stop what you’re doing and hear this. I subscribed and so grateful.. Jon M

Blown away by how generous you are with your story!
This podcast is well executed, thoughtful, brave and generous! A must listen to story... especially if you don’t think BT’s story relates to you! My mind was opened as I listened to a fellow human struggle and grow in very different, yet universally similar ways- adjusting and redefining personal dreams, expectations and happiness.

Thank you for your vulnerability! I cried, I laughed, and I felt like I could relate as someone who had previously given up on love. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Changed the way I think....
I’ve just opened the door of exploring what God really says about homosexuality and I was intrigued to hear a personal story of a Christian navigating those waters. Your story helped me see a new perspective and open the door to thinking what I’ve always been fed might not necessarily be what God was saying in those often quoted verses of the Bible. I have 2 young boys and after listening I feel more prepared to discuss how people are different and how love can look ways different than their mom and dad and be just as beautiful and accepted. Thank you for your vulnerability and willingness to share. While I don’t feel “homophobic” I have in the past been uncomfortable with homosexual displays...on tv or out on the street. I was ok with homosexuality in theory, but uncomfortable and honestly judgmental deep down. Your story has helped me see it different...happy to see 2 people who have found love and get to have someone who knows them. I can see the joy and beauty in it more now and not so much the discomfort of not being like me, but at the same time exactly like me...wanting to be loved and understood. Your story is definitely helping to change my world and the world that is passed down to my kids. ❤️

Came for the gay Christian story, leaving with so much more
Im a straight ally, and have been following Brett for a couple years, but never read BBP. Along with my real life LGBTQ+ friends and an ex-gay friend, it always feels like a true privilege for someone to tell you their story and journey of sexuality. Brett tells his journey through a conservative Christian lens which I find so relatable. His story is about how he fully surrendered his heart to Jesus, a degree to which I have never even considered. It surprised me so much how much credit and grace he gives to those around him, and its shocking to hear this story so clearly without all of the pain and contempt for The Church. Brett deeply honors the blessings of marriage, and some if his descriptions brought me to tears. What I didn't expect was to be convicted about being more inclusive of the single people in my life. Marriage is a blessing, sacred even, but in my world I haven’t carved out a place for single people, or intentionally sought out relationships with them. This podcast has impacted my heart for the singles around me, has educated me on how to love them so much better. Brett and his storytelling are a gift to The Church, and Im so hopeful after listening to this podcast. Random comment: Brett I wish you were my neighbor!
