Sena and Carla have known each other since elementary school and they've been long distance best friends for over 10 years! In this episode Sena and Neema talk about their part time jobs in Japan. Neema talks about her current job working part-time as a teacher at an Eikawa (aka English conversation school for kids) while making a few comparisons to Sena's part-time job experiences in Japan. Sena discusses what her experience was like working part-time while studying full-time and Neema shares some of her thoughts on what it's like to be a black teacher to Japanese kids who have, for the most part, never interacted with black people before.

In this episode Neema talks about her experience getting rejected from Bunka Fashion College. She opens up about the interview process and she divulges her thought process when she got the rejection letter. She then shares what it took to finally accept the rejection and moved on.

As first generations black girls who grew up in predominately white neighborhoods in Canada, we learned early on what it means to be perceived differently, depending on the people in our surroundings. We talk about everything from behavior changes, to trying to fit in, to black girl stereotypes and we even touch on the code switching that exists in Japan too.
