In this episode, we meet 11 year old Sky Britney and her mum Sandra from Western Kenya.Sky joined rugby after a coach came to her school and asked who wanted to join. Since then, she's made new friends, learnt new skills and built her confidence through rugby. For Sandra, supporting Sky has also meant challenging some of the ideas she grew up with. She had never played rugby and always saw it as something for boys. At first, she worried it was too rough, unsafe and might take time away from Sky's studies. After watching the training and seeing the safety measures in place, she changed her mind and is now a big supporter of Sky's rugby journey. We chat about teamwork, confidence, discipline, making friends, life skills and why parents supporting girls in sport can make such a big difference. Most importantly, Sky and Sandra share why they think more girls should have the opportunity to play rugby. This is part of the Black Girls Ruck x ChildFund x Kenya Rugby Union podcast series exploring the Pass It Back programme in Western Kenya.Rugby is about so much more than what happens on the pitch.YouTubeRugby, Confidence and Changing the Story for Girls | Pass It Back Kenya
