Founder and President, Adam Rittenberg, has spent his entire life surrounded by horses. From a very early age, he became intrigued with horse shows where he began to compete in both the equitation and jumper arenas. Adam sought a way to combine his career with his love of horses. The primary goal was to find a way to bring unique horse bits to the sport with the highest level of comfort for the horses. Within a few months, AJR Sports’ first product was born, the Milano Plank Eggbutt snaffle. The success of this product encouraged Adam to further develop an equine line of products including custom horse bitsUnderstanding the fundamentals of horse bits is essential for any rider. A horse bit is an important piece of equipment used in horse riding that fits into the animal's mouth and is connected to the reins, helping the rider communicate more effectively. Horse bits come in various shapes, sizes, and materials, each serving a specific purpose in guiding and controlling the horse's movements. From simple snaffle bits, which applies direct pressure on the horse's mouth, to more complex designs that utilizes leverage, there's a wide array of options. Each horse and rider form a partnership, each with its own dynamics. These partnerships often necessitate the use of specific horse bits tailored to their needs. Proper fitting and selection of the right horse bit are key to prevent discomfort, injury, or resistance from the horse. Factors such as mouth size, horse sensitivity, material and training level of the horse must be considered when choosing the appropriate bit. Through education and understanding, riders can develop a deeper connection with their horse, and foster trust, harmony , and consistency. It is important for a rider not to overbit their horse, as a bit is not a solution to all of your horse's issues. Especially any behavioral problems. Working on your riding skills should be the first step before considering a change to your horses bit. Achieving balance and consistency in the rider-horse relationship is crucial for fostering confidence for both. About Farm House Tack Shop 864-457-3557 Landrum, SC Tryon, SC.
