Ahh… the relief from this podcast
Something has to be very compelling for me to actually write a review. It hit me hard when you studied homeopathic, holistic ,medicine etc. I am assuming that the person behind the podcast is a Genz or millennial born in the 90s someone that I can relate to being 26 turning 27 next month and the thing that really resonated with me was when you mentioned that it doesn’t get better it only gets worse for this illness if you do not get the help you need in the last two years I’ve been combating having to take medication because I was on the wrong medication with a mixture of it at one point and I had a really bad manic episode however this definitely has made me feel turned off against medication to then exploring homeopathic ways of treating it however realizing that this is unlike any other thing that truly exists and does if anything act like an illness in for a physical illness.I’m Genuinely against big Pharma and this hit home.I’ve contemplated and studied gone through the motions of what I can do but it seems that it just is not working.I appreciate the honesty behind this podcast and just hearing other voices that I can resonate with so thank you.

Irresponsible
I hate to give any negative rating to a podcast trying to destigmatize mental health issues, especially BPD as I suffer myself, but I had to turn this off pretty quickly into the medication episode. It’s downright irresponsible to tell people who are trying to figure out medication that they should be dosing the medication themselves and not following the orders of their medical professional. I know in her instance she claims to be “sensitive” to medication, but she (as she does claim) is NOT a doctor. It’s not right to tell people who may be listening to this that are trying medication that it’s ok or even recommended (!!!) to under dose what your doctor is instructing. Frankly it was foolish for you to do in the first place, but under no circumstances is that an acceptable thing to preach to novice members of your audience. I would really take extreme caution listening to this podcast if you have BPD or any mental health issues at all. In fact don’t listen to it, and please seek out a mental health professional and FOLLOW THEIR INSTRUCTIONS on how to consume very serious and strong mood stabilizing drugs. They know what they’re doing, “Bipolar Boss” herself is at a massive loss.

She kind of makes it all about her
The podcast is okay. She does her best to make things informational but she tends to keep making the podcast about her. She will have doctors come on and she keeps talking about her and her story .

Boss!
She keeps things real & authentically shares her perspective. While it’s important to have professional assistance when managing mental health issues, it’s just as important to have someone like Leanna remind you that you’re not alone and there is light at the end of every tunnel.

So Concerned
I was excited by the title of your podcast and began with the episode on alcohol. I found your episode so horrific and concerning that I could not turn it off. You have a caveat that you are not a professional, but the utter lack of professionalism and knowledge on the subject beyond your own experience was astounding. For example the advice that suicidal people should go get a latte was almost criminal. If you are suicidal you must immediately seek out professional care! Also, you have crafted a complex narrative around alcohol use that is so obviously your self serving way of justifying your troubled relationship with addiction in many forms. Finally, even if you have no alcohol issues, the decision to drink while recording a podcast for people with bipolar is at minimum a terrible lapse in judgement and appropriateness given the high rate of co-occurrence between bipolar and substance abuse. This was a deeply concerning 30 minutes.

Emotional
This podcast literally has me in tears! I never understood why I cried all the time, could switch moods in one second. Dealing with having a family and having a bipolar is probably the hardest most draining feeling. Knowing I can hurt my daughters heart and her not understanding. Thinking I am a bad mom because of this struggle. Faking a smile, understanding why I can’t always be happy. It is a real struggle. I appreciate this podcast more than you know.

Bipolar Diagnosis
I listened to the first one and started the second but I can't take this serious when you're drinking. Your therapist and psychiatrist obviously haven't told you to quit drinking and that your medicine won't work properly when you're adding alcohol. It practically cancels it out.. If you want to be better and cycle less you need to quit drinking. Took me 10 years to get diagnosed, find an amazing pyschatrist and therapist that changed my life. It wasn't until I quit drinking, started eating healthy, excerising, found a routine and had the right medicine cocktail that I went into remission. I wake up everyday and know who I am going to be that day because I made this choice. You should too. Best of luck!

Thanks for Episode 2 Relationships
Great insight to the significant others point of view. Great strategies and THANK YOU for pointing out how you approach symptoms. Not to be accusational - is that a word? But for ex. Don’t say, “you’re so manic” I’d bite your head off for that one.
