It is an hour+ of me saying the word "fantastic" over and over again as I describe what I believe to be the best albums of 2020. First, honorable mentions; then, overhyped albums that didn't meet my mark; finally, top 6, separated into 3 tiers, with the best album being on a tier of its own, 3 albums that came suuuuper close, and 2 other incredible albums. For some reason the conversation around Pride has centered around how to gentrify, control, and police an exclusively Queer space. Here, I walk through our Queer history, filling in the blanks for those who don't know about the Stonewall Riots, address the commercialization of Pride and how it has been strategically coopted to reflect celebration in lieu of liberation, and finally, debunk the toxic and hateful narratives that are being repeated about Queer people- sometimes by Queer people themselves- as a means to limit our freedom.
