Helpful for new believers!
I recently became a Christian. This podcast has helped guide me along my journey with Christ, has answered questions I’ve had, and has also taught me a lot about the faith and scripture in the Bible. Would highly recommend for morning drives into work, or road trips!

Thank you !
Since I stepped down from full time ministry in 2020, I have missed the time I was afforded to fellowship and study with area ministers. Your podcast has helped fill that void and I am so grateful!

I’ve listened to this podcast for several years now and it’s still one of my top favorites! It helps me understand God and His Word better. Wes does a fantastic, thoughtful job of helping us see God as God wants to be seen. He and his guests guide us in cultivating a deep love & appreciation for Jesus, reminding us to pass each blessing we receive on to others around us, which is such a valuable thing.

A filling, formative podcast that I LOVE!
I am so thankful this podcast exists! Wes and his many talented guests offer such a refreshing and honest view of Scripture that both challenges and strengthens my walk as a Christian. I began listening a few months ago and now I listen almost every day. This is a great resource for anyone trying to delve deeper into the scriptures no matter where you are in your walk with the Lord.

Wes and Travis present deep spiritual truth with humility
I cannot begin to list all of the ways I have benefited from listening to this podcast. I have learned an incredible amount about God and his word. Wes and Travis are refreshing to listen to as they and various guests wrestle with spiritual questions and the biblical text. I highly recommend making this part of your routine.

Great Deep Dive Into Scripture
Wes, Travis and their guests share deep studies supported by Scripture. With their detailed discussions, they help me understand Scripture at a much higher level than I would by just reading and (typically) glossing over the sorts of details that many of these interviews dwell on. These details are often convicting and show a necessity for changes in my life which are not otherwise so readily seen in this age of feel-good sermons which minimize the significance of obedience and God’s judgment in their emphasis of love, grace, and easy-believism.

What a Blessing
I started listening to this podcast a couple of days ago and it has caused me to rethink my relationship with God. I must say I have not been pursuing Him as I should nor have I given Him my heart completely. Definitely, did a lot of self reflecting as I listened to the podcast and realized I must study and not just read the word. Thank you so much for these thought provoking discussions.

So thankful
Every time I listen to an episode, I am so glad that this podcast exists. I recommend it, and specific episodes often with confidence that what you say is going to be biblically accurate.

Solid Podcast
This is one of the best church of Christ-affiliated podcasts on the internet.
The hosts are willing to have an honest dialogue that isn’t mean or harsh (the opposite of the Focus Press guys).
Sometimes, it gets into the weeds, becomes confusing and is hard to follow. However, these hosts have a love of Scripture and a passion for Jesus.
I appreciate productive discussion.
I give it 4/5 stars.

Clive Staples Says:
Drifting Further Left
The Marriage Divorce and Remarriage episode was vague, and seemed to skate back and forth between what the Bible actually says, versus modern interpretations to avoid “being legalistic.” Just spit it out. What do you believe?

Love the concept not the execution
Didn’t know Wes had a podcast so I was excited to subscribe, I had only ever read your articles and loved a lot of them. Listened to only the most recent episode on gender. It was very interesting until the suggestion that the church should have partnered with the #MeToo movement. I can be sympathetic to the idea you don’t understand the core values of such a movement because on the surface they propose to stand for women who have suffered. But they are a worldly organization that comes with baggage from the kingdom of sin as you put it and I don’t think the church should attach themselves to any such organization regardless of political leanings. Really pretty disappointed, from one member of Christ’s body to another

Great show!
It’s great to see The Church Of Christ has a voice through podcasts. So many false prophets out there, it’s great to see and hear the truth being preached through shows like this one!

Amazing
This podcast is really great. They focus on the teachings of the Scriptures and give practical applications for the lessons from the Bible. You can tell these guys have a heart for God and for serving others. I listen to a couple of other Christian (Bible) podcasts and this one is by far my favorite. They just make the everything in the Bible so accessible and learnable.
Thank you to both of you guys for doing this podcast and thank you for your “servants hearts.”

I love it!
This is one of my favorite podcasts. It’s very informative and thorough. They dive into the scripture. I’ve learned so much and learned to look at things from a different perspective. It’s refreshing to listen to a scripturally sound podcast where they aren’t trying to twist scripture to fit a point they are trying to make. They emphasize taking the scripture into context.

I’ve been listening to this podcast for quite a while. Though I don’t know Wes personally, I have benefited so much from his podcast, his preaching, and devotionals online. He seems to be a sincere man who loves the scripture so much. His podcast causes me to want to delve into scripture even more. Thanks Wes for helping so many grow in their walk with God.

Great Podcast
I would like to say thank you Wes for your time and dedication in sharing your knowledge and understanding of the word of God. I have read both of your books, “Beyond the Verse” and “The Treasure Chest of Grace”, twice. I especially enjoy your conversations on resurrection from the dead and new heavens and new earth. May God continue to bless the work you are doing.

Not all true....
I’ve listened to this multiple times and each time I have my bible open near me. Every time Wes says a verse, I check it and most of the time it isn’t all true. I definitely encourage the people who listen to this to have a bible near by so that they can check verses, quotes and things that God our Heavenly Father said in the Bible.
When I first started listening to this, I took it one hundred percent, until a friend of mine pointed out a verse that Wes had said that wasn’t in the correct place.
I often find what Wes has to say offending as a black women. It’s very hard to find a good, honest bible study podcast now days...

Sound Reasoning and Kindness
This podcast takes a conservative approach explaining from the Scriptures how we ought to conduct ourselves in ways that honor God and love our neighbors as ourselves.

Long-Distance Discipleship
Wes doesn’t know me, but he is discipling me through this podcast. His love for God is contagious. He has challenged me to think more deeply about many passages of Scripture. I am thankful that he addresses issues that are theologically and culturally salient. In his conversations with guests, Wes models the virtues of charity, patience, and humility.
The production quality is excellent. The sound is great and the editing is seamless.
I think the podcast could be improved by shortening the length of each episode to 30 minutes. But I still give the podcast a solid five stars!

Refreshingly Honest About the Bible!
I love Wes' CrossTalk podcast. His delivery and his genuine passion for the Bible shows. He has great guests and asks great questions. This podcast doesn't bring opinions to the table... only an honest look at the Bible.

Be Cautious
I am a member of the church of Christ and I have spoken with Wes and followed his material over the years. I use to really like him and recommended him. Not anymore.
I think he is deliberately deceptive and tries to push the envelope as far as he can go. If you listen to him and read your Bible and then listen to denominational preachers ask yourself who he sounds more like? I contend he used to be different and he will probably end up like another Max Lucado or Ruble Shelly.
Here are some specifics and if you know him challenge him on these and be firm because he will wiggle and squirm as best as he can to avoid giving an direct and blunt answer if he thinks it will harm his reputation.
Is instrumental music sinful? He won’t say others are wrong for using it. We just don’t have example to use it. He doesn’t understand the law of silence.
Ask about Biblical authority and whether or not 1 Cor 3:17 means we must have authority for what we do in worship.
Ask him about kids church, praise teams, LTC and young women leading singing and giving devotionals in mixed audiences.
Ask him about the new heavens and new earth and whether or not we keep our physical bodies and dwell on earth for eternity.
Ask about moral issues such as social drinking, he used to be very strong here. Ask about modesty and how God wants us to dress for worship.
Ask him about grace and works and how they relate.
Ask him if we can celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday to celebrate the birth of Christ
Challenge him on his view that all scripture fits one narrative and every book of the Bible is written for that one narrative specifically. The Bible has one primary theme but not every book is written to address the theme of God’s plan for redeeming man.
And Wes if you read this, I really wish you would stop all the social media outreach you do. I think it is harmful for you. I encourage you to take time and explore your roots and focus on you and the Bible. Stop reading denominational writing and focus on God and His word. I think you gained to much popularity too quickly and that hasn’t been good for you.

Challenging and Edifying (and toe-stomping)
This is a wonderful podcast. It is incredibly challenging and sometimes frustrating how princes in the heart I get, but I can’t get enough. This podcast is an inspiration for my own podcast, and a format that I think is very unique and beneficial.

Great job
I always enjoyed listening to this podcast in the past and am excited that you have been able to start it again. Being able to “see” into the life of a preacher and his wife is a very interesting concept. I think you both did a wonderful job discussing this topic and I pray Gods continued blessings on your family.

Balanced and Refreshing
Too often when I try a podcast, I can promptly find out whether the content is balanced. It seems many shows become echo chambers, looking for little to no input. Wes' podcast does not fit that mold. I have followed his podcast for awhile and I have often found his approach to the scriptures as reasonable and balanced.

This is what I was looking for
I just found this podcast and I'm so glad I did. This is exactly the type of podcast I was looking for. Christian friends talking about the spiritual subjects and applying it to their lives. The discussions are edifying and help me in my walk with God.

This is much more than just thought provoking
The content of this podcast causes you to examine yourself spiritually. You will 'see' your spiritual life a lot better and differently. The material is easy to listen to and understand. This is a wonderful podcast that you will be thankful for! It can make a difference in your life. I encourage you to try it and see for yourself. I haven't been listening long, but what I've heard so far has corrected some common mistakes I make (when dealing with elders, for example) and common misconceptions about the importance of some scriptures in the Bible.
