For part five and the final episode of our series, we hear from the people who have participated in our Border Encounter trips. We hear what they learned by coming to El Paso and encountering this place for themselves. 

In our most narrative episode yet, we discuss what peacemaking looks like. We look to El Paso as an inspiration, and to the experience of crossing the bridge as a symbol for the process of reconciliation and peacemaking. 

For this episode, we learn more about El Paso, the people that live here and call this place home. We hear from Dr. Gina Nunez, a local El Pasoan professor at UTEP, about a social concept called "entrapment." Her research is linked below. But the concept gives an interesting and important look at this fascinating binational city. 

In this episode of Beyond the Encounter, we look at the policies welcoming asylum seekers once they arrive at our southern border. We ask whether or not these policies are truly beneficial, whether we ourselves are truly welcoming people.
