In this Episode I talk to Jessica Connolly from Moon Daughters. We discuss what it means to have Wise Woman Circles for our daughters and how we can establish this in our own modern day culture.
Jessica is the mother of four daughters and the leading visionary of Moon Daughters. Jessica believes that we can empower our daughters beginning at any age, and it starts with reclaiming our own story. At Moon Daughters we weave, menstrual cycle wisdom, sexuality, embodiment practices and inner awareness in with ancient wisdom and modern science to create a pathway for mamas to do their own healing work and offer a deep feminine wisdom to their daughters.
I love spontaneous adventures, hot yoga, a good book and we currently live together with two other families in intentional community with 5 chickens, a dog and a gecko:)

There are many reasons why we find it hard to bring up the conversation around periods. We find resistance within ourselves and how we feel about our own periods, we find resistance from our daughters, and even resistance from our husbands or the fathers of our daughters. Regardless of this resistance, I know that we want our daughters to feel more open towards their periods and menstrual cycle, and to know they can come to us for these conversations. So, how do we move through this resistance.
On this episode I talk about the ways in which we can move through this resistance to give our girls the best introduction to periods we can.

For our young girls, puberty can sound scary and gross. They know their bodies are about to change, but they don’t know how or when exactly. The scariest part is WHEN will they start their period? Some girls can get their periods as young as 8 and as late as 16, and in our culture the average age is 12.
So, how do you know when your daughter will get her period? Well, we can never be sure exactly, and there is no way of speeding it up or slowing it down. However, we can get a good idea that it’s not far away by other signs. Note, there is no right or wrong order to this, each girl is different.
In this episode we talk about seven signs to look out for which might indicate that your daughter will start her period soon.
