Informative and entertaining
This is a teriffic show that explores some very specific events that have shaped the music and entertainment industry as we know it in the USA. The host has a voice that is pleasant to listen to and the shows are well written. It is clear that some real effort was required to research each story presented. What really makes it a great show is how well it is written. The historical facts are woven into an entertaining narrative that reveals fascinating factual details while telling interesting stories about the people involved. Well done!

A well done, engaging and informing podcast
For anyone who is interested in music, whether you are an aficionado or layman, this podcast is for you. I'm always looking forward to the newest episode. It's extremely well done, with interviews dispersed throughout each episode. I really enjoy how other historical subjects are added into the podcast. Informative, interesting, fun
Lots of interesting stories from the history of popular music, and how it reflects and interacts with society, politics, and the culture at large. The recent two-part series on Disco was really great. I feel like this review makes it sound really dry, but it isn't -- it's really fun to listen to!

In times like the present, with Donald trump as front runner and the country going down a dark path, the only thing that I know to be true in this world is that this is an awesome podcast!

Stunning music documentarian
This show truly accomplishes its task of going behind the scenes into how music is made and why it sounds the way it does. Through great narrative storytelling, with a documentarians ear, BTLN will educate and inspire you to listen more deeply to the music you love and to new and old discoveries.

History Brought to Life
This is just an amazing example of what documentary podcasting should be. The editing is excellent and the research is in depth. It's fun and informative, and really could be right there on NPR. Well worth your time.

Smart music history
BTLN is an absolute delight -- tons of original research and insight, presented intelligently and engagingly. I consider myself someone who knows music history pretty well, and every episode has been chock-full of fascinating info that's totally new to me. A great podcast that deserves a wide audience. Kudos!

Excellent Podcast
This is a podcast on the unnoticed bits and pieces of music. Given in a documentary/interview form, it does an excellent job of introducing and then discussing in depth some of the subjects that might otherwise go noticed by the wider audience. Highly recommended!

Terrifically Entertaining
I think I stumbled onto this podcast via a Twitter mention, and I was pleasantly rewarded. Its theme is loosely related to anything music—I say loosely related, because it speaks to a broad audience (you don't have to be a music nut to appreciate it). BTLN's production is very professional. I'd put their production quality right up with This American Life, RadioLab, or Reply All. And it's just good journalism—their research is top notch. My only wish? I want more frequent episodes. As of this review, BTLN releases a new show only monthly. Let's support them so their budget will grow to create weekly shows. We need this show!

Quite simply: an amazing, well-crafted radio program that delves into the depths of music. It never dumbs down, but it never comes across as pretentious. Thank you!
