Taking advice from a bunch of Communists telling hypothetical stories & asking hypothetical questions & only questioning “experts” that are obsessed with Socialism is probably the best way for a person to waste their precious time & fry their brain cells. I notice they don’t cover any historical facts or stories that show what has happened to countries & the poor victims of Socialist leaders though? Bottom line...the same hypocrites in this podcast cheering for Socialism CHOOSE to live in a free Capitalist Republic with a Bill of Rights while reading advertisements for companies that *gasp* sell goods to people in order to fund their podcast (that’s capitalism). 😆

Why does anyone support socialism. It is a system that kills people.

I absolutely love this podcast! In a world where facts are so often skewed and the truth is difficult to come by I find better off red extremely refreshing. They analyze issues from the heart of them - whether it be indigenous people, class struggle or capitalism - they approach the issue not from a right or left wing perspective but from a human one. We need information like this disseminated. I hope this podcast will be successful in creating change! One small critique guys - sometimes, like in the gilet jaunes epdisode - the music is too loud in the background when people are speaking and I can’t hear what you are saying. Love the pod!!

If you’re looking for a podcast that talks about socialism, what is means to be in solidarity, and why socialism should be the way of the world AND a podcast that talks about socialism history, and how we can bring it to modern day life, then this is for you! I started listening to BOR out of curiosity and frustration for the current world situation. The conversation at the beginning of each episodes are very thoughtful and great to hear other perspectives. What I love most about the episodes are that they are current and relevant to the world situation and what is happening right now. The guest that they bring on are very good and knowledgeable, and talk about things from many different perspectives. I think everyone should listen to a few of these podcasts even if they are not socialist. The word socialist, for lack of better terms, has a very negative stigma. What this podcast is trying to do, in my opinion, it is spreading the truth about what socialism is and how we can have a socialist world. What is also great is that Dave listen to their listeners and respond to the many facets of socialism a.m. trying to cover various topics. Keep up the good work and I look forward to each weeks episode.

I love the smart, insightful opening chat between socialists who’re active in the streets and know what they’re talking about from experience and books. Their guests are consistently sharp, militant and well-read and they pull no punches debating controversial topics that often baffle many socialists. My favorite Monday (occasionally Tuesday) listen!

The folks over at Better Off Red are weekly putting forth the best political analyses around, and consistently tie these analyses to what it means for movements on the ground. Better Off Red covers everything from the fight for Palestinian liberation, immigrant rights, and safe abortions, to analyses of the political landscape in Syria and Iran.

Great and thorough discussion of current events.

This is a great podcast for people interested in left-wing and socialist politics. I like that they cover different topics, all with a unique angle. They’ve had great guests and their intros are always timely and often help me understand current topics in a deeper way.

I absolutely love this podcast series. The hosts are informative, funny, and unafraid to take a hard and critical look at today’s social, political, and economic inequities. Perhaps most striking is their ability to present a thoroughly Marxist analysis without overburdening the casual viewer with Marxist rhetoric or lingo.

Finally a thoughtful, well-read, fact-based socialist perspective on current events. There IS balm in Gilead!

I’m not a socialist by any stretch, but even I am enjoying this podcast! I find it really interesting to hear an analysis of all the pertinent issues facing us today through the socialist lens. Plus Danny and Jen are smart, funny, engaging hosts! Luckily they steer away from “inside socialist baseball”—so you don’t need to know the differences between Trotsky and Lenin to get something out of this podcast. Check it out!

I have been waiting for this podcast my entire Red life, which admittedly is only just shy of a decade. I have listened to Democracy Now! and other programs, but this feels like the Socialist Conference followed me home! I can feel the comradely vibe between Jen, Danny, and Eric as they discuss the latest news, or introduce the interviews they've recorded. I have literally repeated whole episodes to try to memorize some of the content, it is so good, and I think it's a winning mix of news and commentary. I NEVER repeat podcasts, but this one I have. In the episode where the co-hosts interview Nation sports Dave Zirin there is a discussion of US Imperialism with the cohosts and the producer before they get to the Zirin interview. It is as insightful as it is terrifying. It’s super extra insightful. Yikes. Great podcast.

Super-duper podcast!

There are plenty of political podcasts out there. Quite a few have an outlook that pretends to be strictly objective and still have all the answers. "Better Off Red" is neither. It's a refreshing take on contemporary political issues from unapologetic socialists that examine pressing issues rather than posture as clairvoyant pundits. The banter is humorous, concerned, and genuine. I look forward to more episodes.

AND informative! Many podcasts are interesting and well produced. This is one of them. But it is also important. Important for making sense of the issues in our society and how they're all connected. It's also informative - I didn't know, for example, that multi-billion-dollar corporation Boeing is headquartered in Chicago yet pays no taxes to Chicago, while they "can't afford" to keep schools open in the neighborhoods of the city that have the worst gun violence. These guys (and their guests) really know what they're talking about and have very insightful views that go way beyond the mainstream. I'd say they get deeper into a story than NPR, without taking any more time! I look forward to listening to more of this.

Where else can you find an analysis of the intersection of the Black Lives Matter movement, the student movement against gun violence, and the West Virginia teachers’ strike? Helps understand the shape of the resistance against Trump and how the left can contribute to making it stronger. Can’t wait for the next one!

I'm so excited to hear from both authors from the Left, as well as the usually unheard voices from smaller struggles that never get profiled in mainstream spaces. Well done, Better off Red team! This was also better than Cats, and I would listen again and again.

I subscribe to too many political podcasts in the vien hope that I will get some thoughtful analysis that I can't just get via osomosis from NPR etc. Better off Red is already up there with The Intercept and Jacobin Radio as one of my first listen podcasts. Great analysis, thoughtful takes on current politics and amazing guests. It is just getting started and I can't wait to see where it goes.
