You should be happy that you look better, I'm guessing that's why you did it in the first place, no? The Real Housewives shows are making a push to be more inclusive, NY has added Eboni K. Williams, while Beverly Hills now has Garcelle Beauvais and Crystal Minkoff. They are tackling a lot of misnomers and stereotypes stemming from racial constructs. It is interesting to see how they are dealing with these issues, and even more interesting seeing how the audience reacts or relates to their method of dealing. Listen, neither #RHOBH nor #RHONY is going to solve race relations in the US but I'm glad the conversation is being held.  We also need to recognize that not everything is tied to race, sometimes, people lack interpersonal skills, and when those people are adults, well, that's just a crying shame. Having said that, should one black person accuse another black person of playing the race card? Does that not throw a wrench in the whole discussion of racial disparity and the likes? This season's #RHOA had some of the ladies seething at Kenya for breaking the "girl code" by investigating the alleged tryst between Bolo, the stripper and Porsha and Tanya (she ran off after that episode aired, homegirl put herself at the scene of the sex)! Now, if this isn't the height of breaking the girl code, I don't know what is.  Porsha went from jumping into Falyn's husband's pool to Falyn's husband's bed not even up to a month after the couple announced their separation. Simon is a Benin boy, who likes fast cars and pretty faces. He apparently is the CEO of an oil services "holding" company, a philanthropist who  dabbles in film-making per the interwebs. I cannot!!! Bill and Melinda Gates announced, yesterday, May 3, that they are ending their marriage of 27 years. In 2019, the Bezos' did the same thing. I think the Gates' is such a shocker because they have always exhibited such a united front that no one would have expected such an announcement. They said they no longer believe they can grow together and that's saying a lot. How much more growing is needed at the ages 65, 56 with 27 years of marriage? Volumes. So, I coined this era as "The Age of Choice"; in this new age, people don't have the patience and don't feel they have to or need to put up anything that does not work for them. The tone is more about self-preservation than the benefit or greater good of all. Are people wrong for taking that stance? I don't know. John Christopher Smith (JSC) was only 12 years old when he started working at J & J Cafeteria owned and managed by the family of Bobby Paul Edwards in 1996. Six years later, when Edwards became manager, he stopped paying JSC and that's when the abuse began.  JSC a black man ailed with a mental disability was subjected to torturous, physical and mental abuse that carried on for 17 years until 2014; when Geneane Caines, a white woman, who noticed a scar on JSC's neck when he came to put some food down, reported Edwards' behaviour to the authorities. The story says Edwards kept JCS from his family but I don't understand why his family did not go looking for him or make a stink when they did not get to see him. Tim Scott says the USA is not racist but I believe selling that narrative does very little to address the racism that continues to pervade the country whether blatant or systemic.  The facts of this story read like something that happened 100 years ago but the whole ordeal was only revealed in 2014.  More people need to call out this scourge on society, more white people as Geneane Caines did.
