This week Matt chats over zoom with Lily Brazel who is a former elite athlete of the Australian Women’s Hockey Team, the Hockeyroos. Lily retired from elite sport in 2020 at the age twenty-five after her mental health and wellbeing was treated poorly by the Hockeyroos staff at the time. Lily’s departure came just before an Olympic Games, a dream she had been chasing since age seven. Lily has written several pieces (Mirrors) about her experiences which explored why herself and many other female athletes have left hockey at such a young age never to return to a sport they once loved. Lily is also the founder of her clothing company Stature Clothing who are the circular athletic apparel on a mission to create the regenerative and ethical world we need.
