Astronomers using James Webb and Hubble may have finally solved the mystery of GRB 061201, a gamma-ray burst that has puzzled scientists since 2006.

Once considered “hostless,” the explosion now appears to have originated in a distant, faint galaxy, potentially resolving long-standing contradictions about its distance and physical properties. A final spectroscopic confirmation could close the case.
