On this episode of Be Unexpected Wyatt and Jake interview former Nebraska football player Garrett Nelson. Team Captain (2022), Second-Team All-Big Ten Academic All-Big Ten (2020, 2021), Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. Garett shares what it was like for him growing up in Scottsbluff Nebraska. Garrett talks about being on a State Championship team for Scottsbluff. Garrett talks about the lessons he learned form his parent's about having a hard work ethic in sports and in life. Garrett has always wanted to be a Division 1 athlete, but wrestling was his first love. Garrett shares the journey of working towards being a D1 wrestler like his dad to switching career paths later on in High School. Garrett realized if he wanted to go D1 football was his ticket. When Garrett got to Nebraska he had to learn not only how to become a better football player on the field, but also off the field on how to become a leader for the team. Witch he learned from others players and his coaches. Garrett shares the adversity he went through the 2022 season. From his coaches getting fired and the pressure he felt that was put on him to lead his team. Garett talks about how going to talk to the team psychologist saved his career.
