We are often under-prepared by our care providers for the psychological effects bariatric hair loss can have on us. Not all experience it, but if it does occur, typically we start noticing its effects around the 3-month mark. This can include finding extra hair in our combs and showers, scalp dryness and skin eczema, and notable changes in the thickness and texture of the hair. There can be many different causes, and these can include things like the effects of anesthesia, vitamin deficiencies (like folate and zinc), low protein intake, and stress from physical body transformation. In this event, Jovanna shares her own experiences and how her research led her to a powerful discovery of products that have truly been a life-changer!
Bio: Jovanna Browne had Vertical Sleeve Gastric Surgery (VSG) in 2021, after which she experienced some major life transformations. During this period, besides weight loss, she also faced many other physical and emotional changes including a relationship that ended in divorce and issues of hair loss and dryness in her skin. Through all of this she navigated a path to finding ways to help herself and help others experiencing some of the same things! She became an expert in the science of hair and skin restoration, becoming CEO and Founder of “Bariatric Hair & Skin Care. She also has dove into digital content creation and helped to build a strong bariatric community. Through all this, she shares her own incredible journey, and inspiration and guidance for others!
