GUAS invites back some of its alumni to share their wisdom and insights into the world of work. This panel features Amy Cairns (EY); Stuart Milloy (KPMG); Fiona Taylor (Grant Thornton); Jennifer Campbell (Morgan Stanley) and Michael Ross (Lloyds Banking Group). 

This is a recording of the GUAS Internship Panel that took place on the 29th September 2021.  This panel gives you the opportunity to learn more about summer internships from students who have completed one this past summer. The panel will be hosted by Jade Harries (GUAS Secretary) and will feature Alice MacFarlane, Catherine Bouchard, Molly Dickson and Sharon Maina. These students have completed internships in Corporate Finance at EY; Audit, VAT and Executive Compensation at Deloitte; Internal Audit at Blackrock; Corporate Finance at Azets as well as Tax and Accounts at Martin Aitken respectively. These talks can also provide more insight into what the work in these sectors is like for anyone looking for a grad job in these sectors.

This weeks episode is hosted by Catherine Bouchard, who is joined by Jordan Young and Amy Cairns.  We compare experiences of university during a pandemic, touching on how it differs for first and final year students. We reflect on what we've learn, how we've bonded with our year groups and share some hopes for the future.

On part two of this week on BAcc to business, Catherine is joined by Amy Cairns to explore images of accountants in the media and society: are we bean counters, business savvy entrepreneurs or somewhere in between? Amy highlights some key portrayals of accountants on screen in the context of literature theories and suggests some ways we can use this knowledge in our professional careers, as well as providing inspiration on further areas of exploration in potential dissertations. 

On part one of this week on BAcc to business, Catherine is joined by Dan Garrity, an assistant manager in Audit at a Big 4 firm, to explore how images and expectations of accountants in society impact on practice. We highlight the strides the profession has made, as well as reflecting on the areas still there for improvement 

This weeks episode is hosted by Jenna Fraser, co-hosted by Martin Ross and joined by Samuel Horsch.  We talk about our own experiences of managing stress during exam periods and more so in general. We talk about the activities we use as a 'release' and provide some tips surrounding the subject. This week on BAcc to business, Jade and Rianna talk you through some study tips and tricks. They discuss how they manage their time and keep on top of studying. They also discuss the importance of making routines and keeping things interesting during the study period.
