Come for the MST stay for all the rest
I’m an MST section hiker and started listening to Away Message to hear more about the trail, both sections I’ve completed and those I haven’t. I thought that would be it, but the fact is that all four seasons of the podcast are great if you’re interested in the history and geography of North Carolina. Highly recommended!

I’ve Hiked the Entire MST
Thanks, Jeremy, for sharing the MST with others. Creating interest in the trail is a great way to get others involved. There are hundreds of miles of the MST that needs to be turned into trail from blacktop - funding and public interest are the keys to making that happen. I am a long-distance hiker and because I grew up in North Carolina, I decided to section hike it during the summers of 2017-2019. I completed hiking the entire MST in October 2019, concluding at Jockey’s Ridge State Park. I did not meet another long distance hiker the entire time I was on the trail, so if folks are looking for a trail to provide solitude, you will find that on the MST. So proud that North Carolina understood the need to have a long trail in the state. I appreciate you sharing this trail with the world.

MST
I’m a long time subscriber to OS. The MST series is my first podcast experience. I’m (sort of) a hiker, so this has been such a great way to experience something I don’t expect to experience first hand, but I can relate to just the same. Love the magazine and now podcasts. I’m ready for the next adventure. I’ll Segway into my thoughts about another adventure I was able to share through you Jeremy, and OS. The trip down the river from Moncure to the Cape Fear and the coast. That trip has been in the back of my mind for over 40 years, a seed planted by an older cousin. It was great to experience it through your eyes. Keep up the good work!!

MST. What a joy
Hearing about this trail and all that it encompasses has brought much joy to my days. Hearing about sights I might never see, from people who I probably will never meet, has been incredible. Thanks to all the people involved for sharing this part of their lives with us

Jeremy Markovich does a great job!
Love this season about the Mountain to Sea Trail. I will not be hiking the MST but listening to the folks that have and are doing it is so inspirational. Thanks Jeremy!

Outstanding podcast!
Jeremy does an excellent job with these podcasts. He’s a great story teller and his additional production additions of sounds and music tie it altogether with a great big bow. The stories he tells of NC are very interesting. Only bad thing is I’ve finished all of them and want more!

Mountains to Sea
This season may be the best yet, and that’s saying something because every one has been outstanding. If you’re a fan of expert journalism, the wonder and diversity of the Tar Heel state, and beautiful storytelling, this is the podcast for you.

Gone to Carolina In My Mind
I lived in NC for 25 years, due to a job transfer I now live in a different state. Every time I hear a new episode, it places me back to all the sights and sounds of North Carolina that I love very much which makes me thankful for this podcast!

Fascinating stories, excellent production
So much more than a person (or 2 or 3) sitting in a booth talking, this podcast is like watching a well-made documentary. Jeremy uncovers the most some of the most interesting facts about North Carolina that you will ever hear. He is an excellent storyteller who keeps you on the edge of your seat. But it's the "on the scene" nature of this podcast that makes it really stand out for me--Jeremy is not just talking about the tallest structure in NC, or the most remote spot in the Great Smoky Mountains, or being 32 miles off the coast-- he TAKES YOU THERE. On this podcast you hear the wind, you feel the waves, you hear the twigs and leaves crunch beneath your feet ... you feel yourself being hoisted 1800 feet in the air in a tiny elevator. The production values are excellent. And the interviews with real live people ... top-notch. My wife and I love this podcast!

My favorite
We absolutely love to listen to this podcast as a family, especially as we are in the car traveling. My seven-year old begs to listen to the shows. Jeremy does a great job of engaging the listeners. I am incredibly jealous of his job...wonder if he needs an assistant? 😃

Review of Away Message Podcast
I first found out about this Podcast while reading Our State magazine last month. My husband and I are both thoroughly enjoying the podcast. I finished Season 1, & Season 3, and starting Season 2 today. Jeremy does such a great job with every episode. He’s funny, down to Earth, relatable, easy to listen to, and a great story teller. I love it when he talks to his children. So precious. I can’t wait to keep listening to this Podcast. I have recommended it to several friends & neighbors. Keep up the great work! Fun & Interesting
Love this podcast! It’s always great learning new things about our state. One suggestion/request: please make the sound level. There are times when I have to turn the volume to max to even make out what is being said in an interview, then the sound is blasting when it returns to Jeremy. Leveling the volume would make listening to this podcast more enjoyable.

Homesickness Cure
I spent the first 30 years of my life in beautiful NC. approaching the big 6-0, I am hoping to retire to the NC coast within the next 5 years. Jeremy Markovich's podcast, Away Message, is a wonderful way to visit NC. I love his stories and the people he talks to as much as the places he visits. Please continue this podcast. Thanks for the ones so far.
