In this episode, we be looking at the incredible Group C championship of the 1980’s and our guest for this will be Le Mans veteran racer, Richard Jones.

Richard Jones started racing 998 and 1275 Special Saloon minis with some success and progressed to Formula Ford. Then followed
F3, F2 and F1 in the European Aurora Championship driving an Ensign and latterly a Surtees TS19. Alongside his single seater career, from 1974 Richard also drove in The World Sports Car Championship. In the 70's Group6 2 & 3 litre classes / 80's Group C C1 & C2 / 90's Group C1 C2 + GT1 & GT2 + British F3000 Championship / 00's LMP1 & LMP2 + South African Historic Series/2010 on SAH Series again + Italian Historic in Ferrari F40 GT1 etc. This sports car era included 15 Le Mans 24hrs races during which he achieved two class wins. During this period Richard also raced BTCC and European Touring Cars, competing in numerous Spa 24hr races.
Richard still races occasionally, has an ARDS instructor's licence, coaches and mentor's young talent. He also assists 'older chaps' at track days.
